Carolina's hot-headed Smith a good fit with Cowboys?

On-line rumors floating the possibility of the Dallas Cowboys trading for Carolina Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith have started making the rounds.

The line of thinking is that the Panthers are sick of Smith's antics, which most recently included a punch that broke Carolina DB Ken Lucas' nose, and the Cowboys have made it very, very clear that they'd love to have an elite receiver opposite Terrell Owens.

OK, so a deal would make sense, right? So what should Jerry give up to get Smith? Start with next year's first-round pick and add at least a piece or two if you want to be realistic.

    There is no no no no no no no way the Panthers trade Smith. Of all the Rumors out there, this has to be the dumbest. If the Panthers traded Smith, the fan base including myself would go absolutly nuts. I would have to revert back to my old team, before Carolina had one, the Steelers.

    i would love to see this actually happen but i can't see carolina actually trading steve smith and it would take a 1st round and probally like a patric crayton

    It would never happen considering he is the face of the franchise in Charlotte regardless of who he punches. I would like to see T.O. and Smith both collaborate on some creative end zone dances though

    Miles Austin is just as fast, if not faster than Smith, and has the upside of youth. Jerry probably shouldn't press his luck by adding this child from carolina. Remember... he's had outbursts like this before and said it wouldn't happen again. The Cowboys are about team and Smith just doesn't seem like a fit. I mean come on, you hit your own teammate in practice because you're frustrated? Jerry won't go for this, he doesn't have the left over money, and he shouldn't give up the guys he would have to give up.

    This isn't a case of the Cowboys taking another ego under their wing. Smith is a straight up gangster, he's from Compton, he'll end up fighting Adam Jones the first practice, then shanking Wade Phillips immediately after.

    The fact that people think that Steve Smith is a top 5 WR in the league is the biggest joke of all. There are at least 15 WRs better than him. That being said, if this trade were to happen, Dallas would coast its way to a super bowl.

    Maybe the Eagles can trade the Panthers #1 in 2009 back to them for Smith. That way the Panthers would have essentially traded a 2, a 4, and Steve Smith for JEFF OTAH.
    Seriously, Carolina... Please keep the Eagles on speed dial in all drafts. A 1, a 2, and a 4 for JEFF OTAH?!?!?!?!? Wow. (clapping). Thanks, Fox.
