Carolina Panthers benching Delhomme?

“JakeThe Carolina Panthers may finally decide to bench quarterback Jake Delhomme(notes), according to CarolinaGwol.com.

And why not? After a 20-9 loss to the Buffalo Bills, the Panthers are 2-4. The Bills might not have taken the game if Delhomme hadn't thrown three interceptions (with two of those leading to Buffalo touchdowns). Those three helped Delhomme to have the dubious distinction of leading the league in interceptions. He's got 13 on the year now.

Panthers coach John Fox apparently wouldn't say at the end of the game that he was committed to using Delhomme next weekend. "Like all positions we'll evaluate it and whatever changes we need to make, we'll make," Fox said.

I really cannot figure out what has happened to Jake. I think it must be linked to his arm surgery in '07. A lot of his passes are simply just not accurate and lead to....yep, interceptions. The guy has a champion's heart, though. Maybe he should just retire and become a coach. Panthers should trade for Brady Quinn.

BENCH HIM! He is averaging over 2 picks a game! And let's not get on Kasay...both of the field goals were from legitimate distances and everyone has ONE bad game...Jake has had 6...time to change. Moore is going to have to get his head back up, the muffed punt was really really bad (game costing), but again..it's his first mistake, not his sixth. Kasay also shoulda had a chance to make a field goal when they went for it on 4th and 1 and the entire world knew it was going to Stewart so they got stuffed...just all around bad...very, very, time to pack in the season and trade for a draft pick bad.

I don't know where this crap is coming from, but he is not married to the bosses daughter, He is married to hisj
girlfriend that he dated in high school in Louisnana. He should be benched though and Fox should be fired as well.

I have no idea why this has taken so long. You knew it, I knew it, and for some reason the Panthers front office is just now catching on. Not often you can say this but, Delhomme has been losing games for his team. He hasn't just not been winning. It will be interesting to see how they fair if they have 2 or 3 fewer turnovers per game.

I'm tired of watching us lose games that we could have won. Blame is due to Jake but that's life. When your up it's great but Jake's at a low so we need a change. Hope he has fun with his kids!

I'm a Panthers fan first and a Bills fan second and that was one crappy game. Things could be worse. We could have Delhomme throwing it to Terrell Owens. We wouldn't know who to blame.

jake sucks!!!! why not run the ball on every play? teach steve smith read option on the corner and just run a 'wildcat' with him, deangelo and stewart... all day.... the panthers should know by now to never, ever trust jake to throw the ball... he is horrible....

Jake sucks horribly. He's been bad for a least 2 years now. The run game last year was the saving grace but now they are being exposed. They need an accurate QB.

Carolina fan first and foremost. Jake has the heart, but not the arm. Carolina had plenty of opportunity yesterday, but just could not seem to pull it together. Thank goodness for Carolina's "POWER SaW" (Stewart and Williams). Kasey just had a bad day, His first since the Panthers introduction to the NFL. Is Michael Vick available? He has done his time, for that matter so has Delhomme.......................

and why couldnt we get J. Garcia? a trustworthy QB who can mange the game, AND who wanted to be here mind you. i would love to blame Jakey Del, however, it's not his fault. granted, he is a bad QB with the horrific numbers to back that up. delhomme turns the ball over 6 time in the nfc championship game and get's signed to an extension? since when does professional sports reward failure? think that was a fluke? he comes right back at the beginning of the next season and follows along the same path. and we as fans have to wait untill week 7 to "possibly" see a change? i dont know about the rest of you brothers (fellow panther fans) but all of my blame is going to be aimed at the front office and coaching staff. thanks for "almost" being a winner for us jake. happy trails.
    sincerely,
    panther nation

BENCH! BENCH ! Did i forget to say BENCH! He is horrible don't blame Casey or Moore it was Jake. Steve Smith has every right to be mad he's to good of a player to not put up the numbers he needs a qb who can get him the ball.
