NFL - Sports Rumors

Buffalo Bills quarterback Trent Edwards(notes) will be out this weekend when he team takes on the Houston Texans. He's recovering from his second concussion in a year. So the Bills are looking for some help at quarterback. They may have found it in 30-year-old Patrick Ramsay, who supposedly worked out for the team's execs on Tuesday, according to Buffalo News.

Ramsay was the third-stringer for the Tennessee Titans until he was cut off their roster on Oct. 3. He was Jay Cutler's(notes) backup for the last two years when they were both with the Denver Broncos.
The only significant time Ramsay has seen as a starting quarterback in the NFL was with the Washington Redskins, where he started 23 games from 2002-04.

Wow, let's get our spelling right. Ramsey. First rule of a professional journalist -- spell the names correctly.

Welcome back Patrick. We do miss you in D.C. I wish we had a VPO that was good enough that we could have kept you.
This seems to be a constant. The Redskins do not invest in an offensive line, the QB's are getting racked up and shipped off, only to be picked up by another team. In some cases they became starters but in most cases they are 2nd stringers. If we look at rosters for the last 3 years, how many starters or back-ups were originally with the Redskins?
Here is just another reason Vinny Cerrato must go!!! Dan Snyder, "pull the nipple out his mouth"! Let Cerrato go and hire someone who can do the job for both sides of the field and stop alienating the fans by denying their right to speak their minds all the while padding your pockets!!! If your not careful you could be facing a boycott by the fans. How would a black-out affect your revenue?

Quarterbacks that have been to Washington and given up to soon are numerous - Trent Green - Brad Johnson - Rich Gannon - Stan Humphries. It is seeming like the Skins management is a minor league for other teams to find good quarterbacks. Not that Ramsey was going to be a good starter but it is a joke with the way they have wasted draft picks on them and let them go other places and and watch them in the playoffs while the Skins struggle to even post a consistant winner. If no one is available in the draft why let the ones you have had go and draft someone that has no experience.

The RamsEy misspelling is pretty weak.
Always liked this guy -- bummer he didn't get much of a career out of the NFL. Good luck to you Patrick!

Fitzie will be fine this week, and then they have the bye week. This is just insurance for Edwards and the concussion, and to maybe have a 3rd stringer there for Sunday's game. Fitzie had a good 2nd half last game, and he should do well against the Texans too. Edwards was downright awful in the games he played in and took a major step back from any progress he had made the past couple of seasons. He just doesn't look like the answer for a long term QB for this team. Fitzie probably isn't either, but it's his team now. We shall see. If Fitzie fails, mine as well give Hamdan a look. They'll need a new QB next season anyways. Still searching for the next franchise QB in the post-Kelly era.

Roscoe Parrish was listed as 3rd QB last week. I was hoping to see him throw a few, guess he will be back among the inactives again this week, too bad.

Mark F, I didn't know that about Roscoe being listed as the 3rd QB. I hope he's not inactive this week. I love him on punt & kick returns, especially with McGee banged up some, he should be out there for every one. Hey, with the bye week coming up, maybe Van Pelt could draw up some "Hurricane" type plays with Roscoe as QB. Couldn't hurt, the offense needs all the help it can get.

Hey Rich (post #3) ---- It's an exercise in futility to get this author Miller to spell names correctly. Did you see his post yesterday in which he referred to Plaxico Burress as "Placido"? Almost daily does he screw up somehow as he merely passes along other stories with no value added. He makes Yahoo look like a joke. Why they tolerate him is beyond me.

I am a journalist myself, and the first thing I learned in my college classes was to spell the obvious things right. If you spell the name wrong, how much credibility does that give the rest of your story? Obviously Patrick isn't the most well known guy, but an obvious error multiple times? Embarrassing.
Go Skins! I miss you, Ramsey!

If I were an NFL GM, I would have 2 rules on draft day:
    1) never draft a player from "The U"
    2) never draft a player from "THE Ohio State University"

LOL Ramsey`s better than Edwards and Fitz combined. That`s the most retarded thing i`ve ever heard. Ramsey`s a guy who got sacked alot, made bad reads and threw a high number of picks because his arm strength wrote checks his timing couldn`t cash. The Bills have WAYYYYYYY too many problems for a new QB to solve them. Hey tho` maybe Losman`ll come back!
