NFL - Sports Rumors

“JoshCleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Cribbs would love to remain with the team for the rest of his playing career. But if the team doesn't want to commit to him, he wants them to go ahead and trade him now, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

The Browns are already dealing with what to do with deposed starting quarterback Brady Quinn(notes), who isn't so excited to be playing backup to Derek Anderson(notes), and now comes this. Cribbs signed a six-year extension back in 2007 that has him under Cleveland's thumb through 2012 at a price of $6.77 million. And now he wants a new extension and supposedly considered holding out this past summer for one.

Predictably, the Browns don't want to trade Cribbs before Tuesday's deadline and will likely try to work out some sort of deal with Cribbs this off-season.

Two teams that are believed to be the Kansas City Chiefs and the Oakland Raiders have apparently come to the Browns to ask about trading for Cribbs. The Indianapolis Colts, San Francisco 49ers, and Miami Dolphins are all supposedly interested as well.

Take him. what a greedy player. he is a kick returner. Eric Metcalf jr at best. He tried being a WR but he just can not get open.

The waiting list for season tickets used to be at 3000+. Now you can't give away PSLs or tickets. Pretty tragic situation...but not undeserved.

Josh Cribbs is the only good thing the Browns have going for them. He's never been unreasonable, and he always plays 100%. It is disappointing that Browns fans are forced to watch their team scraped from the bottom of every barrel, and when a jewel is finally found, the management/coaching just throws him out in the trash. Baby? Bathwater? Hello?

Can you imagine how easy it would be for Peyton to torch opposing defense having the short fields that Cribbs would produce as a KR?

king...Seriously, are you comparing Cribbs to Metcalf? Metcalf was by far and away a better football player than Cribbs.
Although, Cribbs is one of the best players the Browns have - just wondering, why is he not utilized more?

Rumor: The 49ers and Raiders are going to package the two #1 picks they made at QB, and trade Alex Russell (or is it JaMarcus Smith? Doesn't matter between the two of them there isn't one back up QB talent) for the 6'4" QB sitting on Mangini's bench for not whipping Minnesota, Denver or Baltimore his first three starts this season....brilliant!
Hear he will shuttle back and forth from Oakland to SF. Can't be worse than what they have now....
Mangini is going to earn the "Al Davis Commitment to Excellence" award this off-season, and after the Browns finish 3-13, will trade all of the Raiders draft picks to get Mangini...if the Brown's fans don't lynch his arrogant behind first....
I swear, this rumor is true.....hahahaha

His agent is terrible, who signs a 6 year $6.77 million contract! Cribbs is getting screwed. An average of barely over a million a year is not enough for a player of his caliber. I think 6 year $14-17 million is a more reasonable contract.

Why let the only reason to watch the Browns go. These guys may (think they) know football but the last ten years the NFL has been more about how much you know about business. Either way - letting him go does not measure up.
