Browns not firing Mangini just yet

“EricThe Cleveland Browns got crushed yesterday by the Chicago Bears, 30-6, but owner Randy Lerner isn't getting ready to fire Coach Eric Mangini just yet, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

"My highest priority is to have a stable figure that represents the voice that explains the decisions," Lerner said, vaguely.

Lerner apparently isn't happy with the quarterback situation between Derek Anderson(notes) and Brady Quinn(notes) and might bring in a team president to look over the shoulder of Mangini and GM George Kokonis. "We need as many credible, serious eyes and ears assessing this situation as is possible," he said.

Lucky for the Browns, they've got a bye this week.

I'm a Browns fan, but they are a sorry team right now. I say let's lose the rest of the games (and hopefully we'll have the worst record in the NFL), and we can draft 1st...although they'll probably screw that up too. After all, we did pass up Adrian Peterson so we could draft a tackle!

Maybe the Browns can get Tom Cable after this year. He will likely be available. You'll just have to warn the ladies, as this big tough football guy likes to slap women around. Freakin' coward! As bad a Cleveland is......it could be worse.

I wouldnt waste one more second. I would fire mangini today. He has totally lost this team. He messed the QB situation up. Lerner needs to be honest, and say he made a mistake by hiring Mangini, and fire him. If we allow him to be the coach he will waste our 11 picks in this years draft, and as far as free agents go we can forget about it. No player wants to play for Mangini.

"My highest priority is to have a stable figure that represents the voice that explains the decisions," Lerner said, vaguely........ The way he runs the team I'm thinking "the voice" he references is one of the voices in his head.

Ya' know I'm tired of hearing the same ole' crap from mangini. He doesn't pull anderson because he likes the way he moves the ball. Someone should tell this yahoo that games aren't won or lost by how much yardage you have, they're won by scoring more points than the other team. DUH!! I would be happy with the dismal stats we've been putting up if we won the darn game. This yutz just doesn't get it. Someone (Lerner) should bench his sorry tail.

First of all, how can Mangini like the way DA moves the ball? I haven't seen DA do any such thing. Do you call DA stats moving the ball! At least the owner spoke up finally, and I think this might be good he hires a president of operations as long as it's someone good.

I am not a Browns but live in Browns area. I could care less what they do with Mangini, but in his defense, how can you fire him when you give him a [profane] team. You spend alot of money on an offensive line that cannot block werth anything. DA doesn't get enough time. You also don't have anyone that can catch. Brady Queer is not the answer. Try this. GET RID OF YOUR TEAM AGAIN.

hey franchise i'm with you. to browns fans stop blaming mangini, blame the moron who hired that fat stupid wanabe bill. when he came to the jets he traded j. vilma, great middle linebacker, changed the system and had on one to fit it, he did the same in NY that he is doing to cleveland. your retarted owner must have a gay attraction the the frb

Firing coach Mangini is not the answer. He needs time to put his work into place. I like how disiplined the team looks, but the offense is pitiful. The offense being pitiful is not DA's fault. It lies on the play calling, and the worthless receiver corp. Someone could catch the ball..just a thought?
    Quinn sucks....cut him!!!!!

Derrick Anderson is the most pittiful excuse for a QB we've ever seen in the NFL. Defenders are thanking him for sack stats where all they did was touch him after he trips over his two left feet. Any other team in the NFL would of yanked him long ago. Brady, isnt the total answer, but, give him an acceptable amount of games to develop into his position. Or is the rumor mill true, you dont want to pay him for starting a certain amount of games? If so, FIRE MANAGEMENT.
