NFL - Sports Rumors

“BradyThe NFL trading deadline is Oct. 20 and the Cleveland Plain Dealer is reporting that the Cleveland Browns are planning to put quarterback Brady Quinn(notes) up on the block.

Fellow Browns QB Derek Anderson(notes) had a horrendous day on Sunday in a loss to the Buffalo Bills, going 2-for-17 and throwing an interception. But Eric Mangini wants to give him the ball again. "D.A. will continue to start," the coach said.

So Quinn gets to keep watching from the bench. Perhaps the fact that if Quinn took 70 percent of the snaps this season, he would automatically get an extra $11 million as well as the $9.2 million salary over five years he's "earning." If he doesn't play, he won't ever get to that $11 million trigger.

Quinn has appeared in 2 1/2 games so far this season and it doesn't look Mangini wants to give him the ball again if he can help it. So it's likely that Quinn wouldn't mind getting a nice clean slate somewhere else, like former teammate Braylon Edwards(notes) just did with the New York Jets.

Final score: Browns 6, Bills 3.
Do they have a new scoring system in the NFL now that says the team with the fewer points wins?

brady quinn should change his name to quinn brady and pretend to be tom brady's brother.
he might end up with the pats just like jordan palmer is backing up carson palmer in cincy.

peyton manning or tom brady would be just as awful in that offense......Quinn would be a good fit with the niners, someone to hand it off and not make mistakes. The broncos could use him, save for the fact they are 5-0......Whats his value? A 3rd and a 6th? Someone elses salary cap nightmare?

maybe we can accumulate some more backup special teamers for our last vestiges of nfl talent, Thomas, Rogers, and maybe Quinn. After all, the Dolphins were at their best with the "no name" defense. Cleveland can be the no name team. Mangini hates players with more fans than himself. He doesn't want any players that even the most studious nfl fan ever heard of. Record aside, this has to be the worst team in the league.

Don't forget the Browns have, and have had, the worst receivers in the NFL. At least 8 balls were dropped against the Bills. You can only hit a receiver in the hands so many times! This is the NFL and these receivers need to make these catches.
The receivers are also lazy and don't run precise routes.
Against Cinci DA hits a tight end in the numbers, hits Royal in the face mask and of course hits Braylon in the hands, all were DROPPED!
The lack of imagination from the offensive coordinator puts the Browns in bad situations. Continuously running the ball up the middle on 1st and 2nd down putting us in 3rd and long. No play action passes! Our version of the wildcat is one of the worst. Let Cribbs throw the ball for once, he was a QB.
Losing is also a team effort!

Factor in NINE (count em, NINE) DROPS on the day and Anderson is suddenly 11/17 and gets a win. I swear to God all you sports writers do is look at a box score and copy your opinion from somebody on NFL Primetime. Buncha hacks, cant even think for yourselves. I've never heard of a team dropping NINE passes in all my life, thats f*ckin bush league ... where is the column about the Tight End controversy in Cleveland? Robert Royal SUCKS

That's fine, trade away all your talent, keep your 50 or 60 journeymen from the Jets. People will pay to see anything resembling football in Cleveland, they don't need talent, they have their memories. Quinn will be a fine QB somewhere else, Braylon will be a fine receiver somewhere else. Even Kosar had to leave to get his SB ring. Browns haven't had decent management since Mickey McBride.

Anyone who says that Quinn never got a chance needs to remember that he held out his rookie season and if he had not he most likely would have wound up the starter. So it's as much Quinn's fault as anyone else. But this is the Browns. They could have traded both Quinn and Anderson before the draft this year, and held onto the 5th Overall pick instead of trading it to the Jets. And with that pick they could have selected Mark Sanchez. Not only the Browns, but St. Louis, Kansas City and Seattle also passed on Sanchez, and their quarterback situations are not the best in the league.

The Bills need a quarterback. I believe the Bills are a quarterback and a coach away from a winning team.
