Browns may deal Brady Quinn

Brady QuinnQuarterback Brady Quinn(notes) is apparently ready for the Cleveland Browns to trade him if he's not going to be a starter next season. The team appears ready to go ahead and push him out the door via trade, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Former Carolina Panthers Pro Bowl quarterback Jake Delhomme(notes) is visiting with the Browns Thursday. The 35-year-old, who went 58-40 with his former team, has been falling apart since the 2008 playoffs when he threw five interceptions and lost one fumble in a game against the Arizona Cardinals.

According to the Plain Dealer, the Denver Broncos had some interest in getting Quinn last offseason but it isn't clear if that interest still holds.

Quinn is at best a fair backup QB. Deal him off and be extremely aggressive in the draft by trading up, and the browns could finally have the next franchise QB to come out of college, Sam Bradford! This kid is the REAL DEAL. I really pray our new regime can see this and make a strong play for him. GO BROWNS 2010

If Bradford checks out medically no team will have a chance to move up and take him. The Rams will.

Why anyone would want a QB that the Browns don't want is beyond me.

@ tddawgs- And who will they trade up with to get him? If the Rams don't want Bradford they still want Suh, or maybe a very small chance McCoy. But they will walk with one. Lions will take the other and the Bucs need Berry. Redskins sit at four and they will pick up Bradford if he's there. No way he makes it out of the top four and no way the top for trade down to 7. Done deal browns would have to reach for Clausen...

Ya because an unproven rookie is always a better option. bradford is a question mark with injuries and clausen is a well i cant say but look at him he even looks like a tool. i live in the cleveland area i bleed brown and orange but if they draft clausen or bring in deljackass i'm done just as bad as when they went to baltimore

Quinn will be traded... It is still a remote possibility that Troy Smith will be brought in as a back-up. I am not to keen on Seneca Wallace but he will be a starter next season. If Delhomme is hired, he will be brought in as a back-up to teach Locker or another potential FQB next draft. This years draft is not all that impressive at the QB spot. Remember, Holmgren's best strength is the QB position. I will defer my judgement to him. GO BROWNS!!!

I think its a big mistake to give up on Quinn, he has not had the weapons or protection he needs to be sucessfull !!!
Then that could be the reason I watch the game...lol

Yeah, let's trade him before we ever actually give him a full season to see what we've really got. I thought this team might head in the right direction with Holmgren calling the shots. If they give up on Quinn before giving him a legitimate shot (i.e. an entire season), then I'm done with with Cleveland.

IThe problem with Quinn is he is not accurate beyond ten yards. Even when the line gives time (which was actually a lot this season, don't blame the line, he's had plenty of time by QB standards to get the ball off) and he gets happy feet and then overthrows wide open people. He can't even keep the ball inbounds on the deep routes. He makes bad decisions when hurried, as do many quarterbacks, can't fault him there, but the problem is that he can't make the throws when DOES have time. The balls were nowhere near the receivers. The receivers aren't very good, granted, but even a fringe receiver will catch the ball if it's NEAR them.

Hey D i am totally on board with you. I like McCoy, I don't think he is worth the 7th pick overall but if we could trade back into the late first round I would be all for that!

The Redskins should offer a 4th round pick for Quinn, then they won't have to waste the #4 overall pick on a QB and can get the OL help they need.
