The Denver Broncos are expected to promote practice squad quarterback Darrell Hackney to the active roster according to a report in the Denver Post.
Hackney has been on the practice squad since being released in September. Hackney would take Simeon Rice's place on the roster.
Hackney will back up Jay Cutler and Patrick Ramsey. Hackney, who has been traveling with the team to road games, would be the emergency quarterback Sunday. When Cutler went down with a leg injury in the second quarter in Detroit, the backup to Ramsey was long snapper Mike Leach, who last threw a pass in a game as a sophomore in high school.
