Bernard Berrian of the Chicago Bears is on pace for 79 receptions, 1,087 yards and five touchdowns. Chances are good his act is headed elsewhere when he becomes an unrestricted free agent March 1 according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
After New England's Randy Moss, Berrian is the best free-agent receiver available. Also in the mix will be Dallas' Patrick Crayton, Oakland's Jerry Porter, Houston's Andre Davis and New Orleans' Devery Henderson. In other words, there isn't a lot of competition after Moss, and there should be a fair market for a vertical threat such as Berrian.
That gives you an idea of what the Bears will be looking at if they choose not to pursue Berrian and/or if they bid goodbye to Muhsin Muhammad, who has a salary-cap figure of more than $3.3million in 2008. Berrian doesn't have to be one of the greatest talents in the league to get paid like one after seeing what happened when free agency kicked off last March.

Berrian is at best a #2 or #3 receiver if he's playing anywhere but in Chicago's talentless offense. I would take Jerry Porter, Andre Davis, or Patrick Crayton over Berrian in a heartbeat if I was looking for a wide receiver this offseason.
