Bears' QBs mum on Muhammad's remarks

It was what the Chicago Bears didn't say about Muhsin Muhammad that spoke volumes when practice ended Monday.

Judging by their reaction, there was plenty they thought about saying.

Muhammad, whom the Bears released in February, told Sports Illustrated's Peter King that Chicago is ''where receivers go to die.'' He'll get to share that sentiment in person when his Panthers host the Bears in Week 2.

While Muhammad was quick to throw his quarterbacks under the bus during his stay here, they did their best to stay out of the fray. Kyle Orton said he had no reaction. Asked how Muhammad was as a teammate, Orton snapped, ''No comment.''

''I don't pay attention to that,'' said Rex Grossman, who also was called ''brittle'' and ''soft'' by ex-Bears defensive tackle Tank Johnson in a CBS SportsLine report. ''That's the first I've heard of it, and I don't have an opinion or comment on that.''

Muhammad wasn't shy about showing his dissatisfaction on the field during games, and his act eventually wore thin in the locker room. He pointed out to King the incredible turnover at quarterback (21 starters) the Bears had during Brett Favre's run in Green Bay.

''Bernard Berrian came here and developed and became a rich man,'' receivers coach Darryl Drake said. ''Everybody is entitled to their opinions. I love Moose and hope that he continues to have an illustrious career. We're going to do what we do here. That's our feeling.

''I'll give him a great big hug, right around the neck [when they meet in Week 2] because I love him.''

Can't wait for Mus and Berrian trying to catch a ball against a healthy Bear's defense! Hopefully they get caught high and across the middle. GO BEARS

Didn't this guy drop over 20 passes last year? That's why he was released. Sounds like sour grapes.

Did Muhammad mention how many dropped balls he and Barrian had over the last 2 years. Don't know if the Bears ever had a tandem that dropped more balls then the two of them. As far as I am concerned glad to see Muhammad gone!

Not saying that Rex has been great but he has taken a beating for an offensive that had receivers dropping balls left and right and an offensive line that can't block. Blame needs to be spread not just the QBs fault in Chicago!

Considering Tank's background, loaded guns found in his home and the situation surrounding his friend at a Chicago night club, Rex is very soft and brittle. What does he expect from the son of a Dentist?

Im sitting here, thinking about all those balls Mush dropped in the endzone - balls thrown at the numbers, in the gut. This douchebag couldnt get his huge orange mittens around the ball fast enough to ring up some points. Granted, Grossman/Orton/Griese are far from Hall of Fame material, they were smart enough to minimize any need to throw an important ball this guys way. Thus, a star was born in Berrian. Trust us Mush (or Moooosh).....not one Bears fan lost any sleep when we heard you got the boot. Should have been done a year earlier actually. As it turns out - you're better at flapping your gums than you are at catching footballs.

Did Moose really do anything but insult himself? Hes the only WR i remember coming to chicago to die anyways... Marty Booker is pretty old, but he will be much more of a team player and mentor than moose and ill take him over moose any day. If anything, they develop here and then leave for other teams, like berrian, bobby engram, or even marcus robinson, who was great for the bears for a little while.

Don't call him "Moose", call him "Numbers" cause I can't tell you how many times he was hit in the numbers last year and dropped the ball. It's wide recievers like him that gives Quarterbacks a bad name. Drops count against the QB not the reciever. Glad he's gone, now get a posession reciever who can hold on to the ball. Like our two tight ends can.

Muhsin, What a complete waste of god gifted talent, Bernard what a complete waste of god gifted talent, Favre what a complete waste of god gifted talent, do you see what I am getting at, these players that cry alot are not football players, name one player from the Bears that cried while they were or are playing, the only Bear that cried was The Sweetness when he broke the RB's RECORDS!! DEAL WITH IT, THE BEARS ARE THE WORLD TEAM!!!!

I am a Bears fan, and our QB situation is horrible. Rex does suck, Orton is not much better. Moose has foundation to his complaint, if he would have caught some passes instead of dropping them all last year he would still be a Bear.

Glad to see moose gone, his career was dead when we picked him up,Berrian didnt do much last season to help out grossman's numbers either.as far as star reciever go....tom waddle, curtis conway, willie gault...great with us,cant account for what they didnt do when they left.besides..with booker to mentor hester, can only imagine the possibilities.he has the vision and speed and knows the rule book better than the refs.once he has great hands....wow.cant wait to see how well berrian does with the QB situation in minnesota as opposed to chicago.think he had it bad before???and moose..cant wait until you catch one(if you still can)up the middle and get a lung knocked loose.
