LaVar Arrington, his NFL career over because of injury, blasted Hall of Fame Coach Joe Gibbs for leaving the Washington Redskins with a year remaining on his $25 million contract. Arrington said the only reason Gibbs returned to coaching at all was to get money to run his NASCAR team according to a report in the Washington Times.

"I called Joe Gibbs a coward for leaving," Arrington said. "You came in, you made some money for your NASCAR team. No one else is going to say that. I'm sure more people thought I was a [jerk] for saying that. Joe wouldn't call me because he knows. There are a lot of people who know the truth about what went down with me and the Redskins."

As for Snyder, Arrington called him after Taylor's funeral to try to heal their breach and greeted him at a luncheon last week, but to no avail, he believes.

"I think Dan Snyder is scared to death of me," Arrington said. "He won't look at me. I tried to shake his hand at that luncheon. He shook my hand and was like, 'How you doing, LaVar?' and kept moving. I'm probably the only person that's ever stood up to him and never backed down. I actually humbled myself to call Dan after Sean passed away to try to bury whatever me and him had going on between us. He called me back, and it was almost like he was reading a script. I root for the Redskins because how I feel about the fans outweighs how the organization treated me. I always take pleasure in taking jabs at Dan because people like him need that. There's got to be a person out there who's not afraid to do it."

Time to let it go; water under the bridge; let bygones be bygones, and all those other sissy-la-la cliches. LaVar, if you are really interested in the Redskin fan base as you say, how bout coming back to the team and offering to help coach the younger guys as a good will gesture? An offer like that will speak far better than sounding like Sir Galahad with a Dan Snyder chip on your shoulder.

Arrington isn't man enough to own up to his own juvenile mistakes. That's why the 'Skins let him go despite having enourmous talent.
To say that Joe Gibbs is/was anything but an outstanding coach/person is beyond disengenuous.
We can all hope that LaVarr one day grows up and becomes a man.

Wow! Just when I was starting to like LaVar again. Arrington- no matter what you say, you will never be as loved by the fan base as Gibbs is here in DC.

Arrington was second-rate, even in his "prime". Poor training and fitness led to his "career" ending in mediocrity.

Actually the reason for both Joe's return and departure were because of his son, Coy. Coy hasn't been able to figure out what he wants to do in life, and at one point decided he wanted to be a coach in the NFL. So, Joe says, "Ok", I'll go back to coaching, and can teach you, while getting you experience for your resume, which will help to land you another NFL job when I retire again. Now, 3 years into coaching the Redskins again, Joe's son Coy decides he wants to go back to being in racing and quits. After this, Joe has no reason to continue coaching, so he goes one more year, then suddenly retires again.
That IS the reason for both Joe Gibbs' return and early departure to coaching the 'Skins.

Arrington had his day with the Redskins but now it's over. How can he complain about a coach (Gibbs) who took a dying Redskins team to two playoffs in four years. Although not my opinion, but if it was Nascar that brought Joe back to the team then thank you Nascar. Yea I was sad to see Joe leave but he left the team in great shape. Levar is just upset that the team doesn,t want him back and I agree, so thank you Dan Snyder.

Arrington can say whatever he wants, but thanks to him the Dallas Cowgirls started thier 13 year playoff win drought because he ended troy aikman's. For that you can say anything you want to and it's fine by me. Hail to the redskins.

    Good morning everyone!
Never a team player, Lavar ruined his promising career through his intense self-love. Now, through intense self-love, he can't admit that he screwed it all up. So he blames Gibbs and Snyder. Classy, loser Lavar, very classy.
