NFL - Sports Rumors

The agent for linebacker Bart Scott and center Jason Brown of the Baltimore Ravens believes the team will be able to keep one of the players while the other becomes a free agent.

According to the Baltimore Sun, Harold Lewis, who represents both players, said Monday that he is optimistic either Scott or Brown will re-sign with the Ravens before free agency begins Friday.

"My gut feeling is one of the two is going to hit free agency and the other one will probably sign," Lewis said. "That's just my gut."

Lewis wouldn't disclose whether it would be Scott or Brown returning but it appears the Ravens have a better shot at keeping Scott off the free-agent market. With linebacker Ray Lewis poised to become a free agent, the Ravens might make a concerted effort to keep Scott, the team's second-leading tackler each of the past four seasons.

The Ravens could have a tougher time in talks with Brown, a center who could command higher money as a guard in free agency.

do u guys have any idea how difficult it is to get or groom a pro bowl caliber center? The fact is scott`s numbers have declined over the last 2 years and they can easily cope without him. This isn`t the case with brown. IMO they`ll keep their center

I'd take Brown or Birk in a heart beat over any LB in the league... You are dead on Terry. Quality centers are rare and LBs are a dime a dozen.

Titans fan you don't have to worry about the Ravens decline, because the last time I checked The Superbowl Trophy resides in SIX-BURGH, PA!!
And I don't care what the Titans do or don't do during the regular season, but come playoff time the road to the Superbowl next season goes through SIX-BURGH and that's a road the Titans aren't good enough to drive through!!!

3yr 30 mil they can have him. Suggs Scott and Brown would be able to stay then.
I would like to see them keep Jim Leonard too. But its time B-more had some O-fense.
The "D" can slip a little this year if we can just put up more points. I love Heap but try to trade him and Rolle for whatever you can get. Don't forget Reed is coming up soon too.

just b/c they hit free agency, doesnt mean they arent returning to the team....its probably brown that wants to test free agency, a young stud center can get paid out there. scott knows he is more valuable to the ravens than to anyone else.

#9...quality linebackers are not a "dime a dozen" but I agree Brown should be kept at almost any cost. Centers and guards are more important, especially for a quarterback entering only his second year. The Ravens are in a very difficult position trying to keep the defense together but it's the offense that will suffer the most if they lose Brown. Replacing Scott and probably Lewis and maybe Leonard in one year, and having a new coordinator is going to be very tough to overcome. I do believe (if they can keep Brown) that the Ravens offense will be better but I doubt it'll be enough for the drop in defense that is bound to happen.

Yes, Ray Lewis will be a good fit for Dallas!! A murderer to join America's team of CONVICTS!!!! Cowboys are a joke and a embarrassment to the NFL. Enough already Jerry Jones. Sell your team and give the NFL some closure.

Ray wears down after about 10 games.I watched him miss alot of late season tackles. I hope they can keep Brown and Scott but I think Brown is more valuable over the next 5 years. What earns the title "america's team' ?
If its wins, then The Patriots or Steelers deserve it. If its media exposure, then Dallas wins. GO RAVENS
