NFL teams have till midnight Thursday night to sign players with a franchise tag to a long-term extension. The NFL Network reports that there is "no chance" this will happen for the San Francisco 49ers and nose tackle Aubrayo Franklin(notes).
This will make Franklin an unrestricted free agent in 2011. The 29-year-old had 36 tackles last year, including two sacks. The 317-pounder also pulled in one interception.
According to Niner Insider, Franklin can either sign the $7 million, one-year tender from the team or hold out for a better deal. He's missed all the team's workouts so far.
