The LB core is deep but depleted with injuries and I for one would like them to bring Brooks in for a shot. The seaon is only half over and there is plenty of time to make up ground and bringing in D. Brooks who is a veteran can only help. Besides that he is a leader and this Bears team is lacking that big time. Losing Brian and Mike Brown is only now showing the lack of leadership on the "D"! Lance and Wally are not the rah! rah! type and Tommie need we say anymore! Alex Brown wants to do something and his other defensive teammates need to speak up as well. Jay has been sacked 19 times in 8 games so far or 8 more times than all of last seaon. This is a gut check game this thursday for the Bears! Prime time with all there fans to witness and other football fans to see if Chicago is a contender or pretenders. Can't get any worse than being 4-4 at the halfway point but its starts this week in San Fran and fighting, playing hard with passion and finishing strong is all we could ask for as Bear fans! Isn't funny how every Defensive unit that plays in the same Jersey as Cutler seems to struggle? Denver endured the turnover's, 3 and out's, long pass attemepts that sometimes resulted in a TD, most of the time not. Its the same story. This guy has a cannon of an arm and the media loves him. At the combine he will kill the stat line and when you see him warm up you are in awe. But that isnt how the NFL works. Raiders drafted Hayward-Bey over Crabtree because he was the FASTEST WR. Hahahaha - it doesnt matter. Denver fans like myself who had to watch him for 3 years as our defense was gased and on the field WAY too much understood the problem and tried to warn all you Chicago fans about what was to come. Why is Denvers defense so much better all of the sudden? Easy answer - THEY ARE HARDLY ON THE FIELD. Other than the Baltimore game the Broncos have won the time of possesion battle all season. The defense is fresh. Use any excuse you want to, but Kyle Orton doesnt throw interceptions. IS he a pro bowler, no way. But his QB rating is fantastic every game, he does sustain drives, and is a proven winner. There can be no arguement of jealousy here. 3 years of under 500 football in Denver does not make us "want him back" - TRUST ME! WE ARE GLAD HE IS GONE!!! He doesnt play defense, but as Chicago fans are finding out, just like Bronco fans did, he sure doesnt help a defense. It doesnt matter how good your running backs and WR's are, as long as you have Cutler he will still lose. He lost with talent in Denver, and he is now losing with talent in Chicago. Denver would take Knox, Hester, and Olsen anyday - BUT YOU CAN KEEP CUTLER. At least you gave him his money right. Good job Chicago. Go ahead, fire Lovie - He isnt the problem. Jay Cutler is. Alright Bears fans. You are going to hear it from someone who has put up with a whole lot of #@$*^&% football since the 1960's watching this team. The Bears problem is organizational for starters. The McCaskey Family is the football owner equivalent of William Wurtz. Look at the 40 years of futility by the Blackhawks before he finally collected his last Stadium/United Center liquor profit. The McCaskeys just don't care the same. D'Angelo is a meat head that has never understood how to seek, scout and sign good young talent. Then we have a coaching staff that is inept at understanding how to use the players according to their talent level. You can't win if the organization does not have a winning framework. Finally the organization goes out and signs a QB that can throw the long ball. But what help does he have? Receivers that don't come back to the QB on a blitz, that don't complete their pass patterns to run into the soft spot of a zone, that don't know how to shake a sticky CB. An offensive line that can't pass block. Most people don't remember Erik Cramer, the last quality caliber QB the Bears had before so many other average at best QBs since then. It was the same back then. A playbook that didn't creatively take advantage of his throwing skills. How long do we have to watch the D blitzing up the middle to have the opposing O throw a quick screen away from the pressure? How long do we have to watch the cover 2 get burned on crossing patterns, slants and deep outs? This organization continues to bumble with mistake after mistake. They need to get rid of D'Angelo and bring in a knowledgable GM who knows how to scout and sign quality young players. The coaching staff needs the same makeover. Gosh, can't this organization do better than Dave Wannstedt, Jauron and Lovie Smith? This current team lacks quality management and planning from player selection right down to play designs and calling. Until that changes expect Cutler to continue to be hounded and for me to have other things to do on Sunday when these Bears play. Love the new Blackhawks. Thank you Rocky!

Max, Favre a good teammate? He personally ran Jevan Walker off the team getting involved in his contract dispute, the whole Jets franchise turned on him, or never accepted him to begin with given his pre-Madonna aura, and he talked about retiring for three off seasons in a row before finally retiring, only to blame the Packers management for forcing him to. He's a cry baby and in fact a bad teammate. It's always been all about him. No, Favre was the quarterback for a number of talented teams that were composed of underrated players. I mean Donald Driver is now just beginning to get recognition for being an elite receiver. He's been an elite receiver ever since he pretty much entered the league. There's never been any "team in Favre, he's always been above them.

After watching Cutler for a couple of years and reading about him, I suspect you can put him in the same bag with Jeff George--a guy with all the talent in the world but a serious lack of TEAM spirit. Give me a TEAM of above average players with good chemistry above a bunch of super stars without the chemistry every time. Why do you think Favre is arguably the best quarterback that ever played? It's because his teammates, Green Bay or Minneapolis, LOVE him. They will put everything they have on the line for him. Show me one member of Chicago or Denver that loves Cutler.

post 259, I won't deny that the '06 team had a better o-line but Thomas Jones had much better vision than Forte. He never should have been traded. That act alone began this current downfall. I mean Grossman couldn't help but get off to a slow start in '07 what with Benson going down at first contact and failing to find the while and the receivers suddenly growing butter fingers, bringing on the Brian Griese dink and dunk parade. And you're right the offense did receive a lot of "gifts" from the defense, but that goes back to my point about being a team game. Cutler's not good at sustaining long drives. He's normally three and out, a quick six or a turnover. That doesn't leave the D off the field long enough, while holding them accountable for many more stops. It's a team game, it always has been, that's why trading for Cutler was stupid, as was giving up on Grossman. Cutler has all the tools, except where it counts the most; in the head. I just don't see any football smarts in him nor within the organization. Believe me I'm a frustrated fan. Rebellion is a lot more refreshing. Maybe there's a billy goat type curse I can place on the QB position. Or wait, maybe somebody already has....

Post#254, I agree with you up to a point. I had nothing against either Grossman or Orton. Your right, that 2006 offense was explosive and pretty damn good. But to say that the O.L is the same is not true. Thomas Jones had plenty of lanes to run through and Grossman had more time. Lets face it, Grossman is not as nimble as Cutler but they are both gunslingers and we need more our receivers this year. You have to remember, our offense back in 06 was also getting plenty of gifts from our defense, fumbles, interceptions, etc.... I have nothing against Cutler- he can throw with the best of them, but he is on a sinking ship.

There is trouble from within starting at the coaching level. Wide outs do not know how to come back to the ball when Jay is flushed, they just stand there making zero effort. This is a tema in complete turmoil and it's like award the player who tries the least. Coaching confidence is probably the lowest in 3 decades. 6-10 at best for this group with # 1 and # 2 draft picks given up in 2010. 2010 season will be worst.
