    Cris Carter's Six Points

Chris Carter breaks down the matchup.
    Chargers Category Patriots Reason
Offense checked The Chargers have some nice weapons in LT and Gates, but I'll take Brady, Moss, Stallworth and Maroney.
Defense checked Phillips and Merriman are capable of getting to Brady, but I believe the Pats can present too many schemes to defend.
checked Special teams Did you see Sproles' speed and explosiveness against the Colts? That's a nice weapon to have on kick and punt returns.
Coaching checked People think it's simple because he has so much talent, but no one prepares his team better than Belichick.
Intangibles checked Moss and Stallworth should be well-rested after combining for just four catches against the Jaguars.
Wild card checked Conversely, the Chargers are in worse shape than a week ago as LT and Rivers are questionable with injuries.

    Cris Carter says: Patriots

Let's see: The Pats are too good, too well-coached, too focused and too talented to be denied a trip to Super Bowl XLII.
