P Andy Lee signed Lee a six-year contract extension. Lee, a sixth-round pick in 2004, is now signed through the 2018 season. Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com reported that the annual value will be about $4 million.
"The 49ers are pleased to have reached a long term contract extension with Andy," general manager Trent Baalke said in a statement. "Andy has established himself as one of the top players in the game at his position. He is a valued member of our organization and community. As we stated earlier this year, it is our objective to keep the core of this team together long term, and this is just another step in that direction."

Lee and the 49ers agreed to a six-year contract extension, terms undisclosed, through 2018, the 49ers' official website reports.
Recommendation: Lee, a three-time Pro Bowl selection, is coming off a season in which he set the NFL single-season record in net punting average (44.0) and ranked third in NFL history in gross average (50.9). Lee holds all of San Francisco's major punting team records and at age 29 looks to have a bright and long future ahead of him, helping a Niners special teams unit that is already paired with a stingy defense.
