QB Chris Simms is getting closer to starting Sunday with Kyle Orton being listed as questionable after missing his third consecutive day of practice Friday. "If Kyle is completely able to do what we're going to ask him to do in the game plan, and can do it at a level that allows us to be successful, then we could give him an opportunity to play," coach Josh McDaniels said. "If he's not capable of playing at that level, or doing some of the things that we need him to be able to do, then you go with the guy who practiced."

Simms ran with the first team offense in place of Kyle Orton during the Broncos' morning practice session on Wednesday, the Denver Post reports.
Recommendation: Orton's ankle injury will likely keep him out of practice this week, but the team is hopeful he can play on Sunday against San Diego. Simms will get the start if Orton can't go, although he is hardly a viable fantasy start.
