Jul 24 Steve Corkran, of the Contra Costa Times, reports Oakland Raiders RB LaMont Jordan did not report to the team for the start of training camp. His agent, Alvin Keels, said the Raiders informed him not to show. His time with the Raiders is short, as his agent is looking for the team to trade him, release him or allow him to show up for camp and participate. Since Keels has not found a trading partner, it is likely the Raiders will simply release him. The team would save $3.3 million against the cap by releasing Jordan, but he would still count $1.4 million against the cap. KFFL

Jul 23 The Raiders have told Jordan not to report to training camp, the Sacramento Bee reports.

Recommendation: The rub here is that's not permitted, so the Raiders will have to let Jordan participate, cut or trade him. Either way, his days with the team are numbered. Keep an eye on his status because in the right situation, he could emerge as a deep sleeper.

Jul 17 RB LaMont Jordan, the running back who signed a hefty contract to be the team's lead runner in 2004 but couldn't stay healthy enough to fully capitalize on the opportunity, is facing an uncertain future. Jordan was excused by Kiffin from the club's mandatory minicamp as the club tried to work out a trade. Jordan was among the NFL rushing leaders when he sustained a back injury last year, but was surpassed by Justin Fargas while he was injured. The Raiders also have second-year back Michael Bush on the roster and drafted Darren McFadden with the fourth overall pick. One possible sticking point is Jordan's contract -- he is due to make $4.7 million this season and $5 million next season. He could agree to a reduced salary to make a deal work, or simply refuse and wait for the Raiders to cut him, making him an unrestricted free agent. Jordan visited the Detroit Lions recently but a deal hasn't been discussed since that trip. Yahoo! Sports
