In this Dec. 11, 2013 photo provided by New York-Presbyterian Hospital, Donald Jones, left, poses with his surgeon, Dr. Gerald Appel, at New York-Presbyterian Hospital in New York, before being released. Jones, who played wide receiver for the Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots, needed a transplant after disease permanently damaged his kidneys. On December 3, Apple and a surgical team replaced his damaged organs with a kidney donated by Jones' father. Jones will probably never play professional football again but he may pursue one in Major League Baseball after a period of recovery and rehabilitation.
