New York Jets dominate the Jacksonville Jaguars in a 32-3 win: A fan’s reaction
The New York Jets are now 2-0 for the season. They beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 32-3 at the MetLife Stadium on September 18, 2011. The absolute domination of the Jaguars by the Jets was fitting—considering statements made by Jacksonville accused the Jets of being over-hyped.
Highlights of the game
The Jets defense shined brightly Sunday afternoon. Mo Wilkerson scored a safety in the first quarter by sacking Jackonville's quarterback Luke McCown(notes). Antonio Cromartie(notes) had two of the four interceptions in the game. Kudos to the Jets defense for not allowing the Jaguars into the red-zone for the entire game.
The fourth quarter saw both starting quarterbacks leaving the game. Mark Sanchez left after a hard hit. There was no reason to leave him in the game and risk injury—by the fourth quarter the Jets had the game sealed. Luke McCown was pulled and replaced by Blaine Gabbert(notes), a rookie out of Missouri. It was McCown's abysmal performance that got him pulled.
Gang Green was donning Navy jerseys this week. It was weird seeing the Jets in throwback uniforms of the New York Titans. I'm used to seeing them in green and white, not navy and gold. The Jets perform well in throwback colors, they are 5 and 1 when wearing them.
Missed the game
If you missed the game because it was not available with your cable or satellite subscription you can still catch it with an NFL.com's Game Rewind subscription. I use this when I want to see an NFL game I missed.
It was an exciting game to watch even though it was such a blow-out. I like seeing the Jets do well. From a spectator's standpoint—only one team showed up for the game—that was New York. As for Jacksonville, maybe your wideouts should focus on playing football instead of whining to the media about how much coverage they give the Jets.
