Dez Bryant’s offseason tweets show newfound maturity: Fan’s view

According to a Yahoo! Sports report, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant(notes) has approached his job with a newfound maturity since refusing to participate in a training camp hazing ritual in the summer of 2010. Bryant's closest advisor, David Wells, insists the wideout has displayed a new attitude the past few months. "I've really noticed a maturity," Wells says. "He's trying very hard to become a man, to be accountable, to be punctual, to do things the right way. It's a work in progress, but there has been progress, trust me. And the way he prepared himself physically during the lockout was tremendous." Bryant says he has made changes to his lifestyle, ranging from instituting a dress code for the friends who accompany him to the mall to attempting to become more punctual. However, Bryant's offseason activity on social media sites has given fans a closer look into his growth as a professional athlete. On Aug. 19, Bryant tweeted "I want to thank @cuttersgloves for their support of me and everything I do both on the field & in the community." Bryant did the right thing by showing respect to his sponsors with this tweet. A major part of an athlete's income comes from endorsement deals, so Bryant is making great progress in proving that he can be trusted as a brand ambassador.

On July 18, Bryant tweeted "I'm in Whataburger drive thru signing autographs….thank you God for my great fans." Part of Bryant's maturity process involves improving relations with Cowboys fans and becoming a positive role model in the Dallas community.

On June 25, Bryant tweeted "Happy 1st Birthday to My son Dez Bryant Jr…..love him so much what a blessing to have." Bryant's son is a great source of inspiration and helped him truly become the man he is today.

On July 24, Bryant tweeted "My great fans are the reason I jump into BEAST MODE on the field….they get me fired up!!!" Bryant is making great decisions both on and off the field. He has unquestionable NFL talent, but the inspiration he gets from fans is what takes him to the next level.

On July 24, a fan on Twitter asked Bryant if he has been a Cowboys fan his entire life. Bryant responded "Yea…its blessing to be apart of the team RT @cjsucitymvp: @DEZ_88" Bryant's history as a Cowboys fan reinforces his dedication to the team.

I am a Dez Bryant fan because he is one of the most exciting wideout's to watch in the NFL today. I feel that he has the potential to become a positive role model to young football fans due to his newfound maturity.
