Top three Asheville, NC, bars to watch the NFL
Football season is fast approaching, and that means it is time to find the best place to catch your favorite teams. Asheville has a plethora of bars, but finding a good location to watch NFL games can be a challenge. Three pretty consistent options are Northside Bar & Grill, The Bier Garden and Wild Wing Cafe.
Where the Locals Are
Northside Bar & Grill is an Asheville local favorite. Northside is located at 853 Merrimon, and has ample parking. There are a number of strategically placed TVs for your viewing pleasure and the crowd is generally lively and appropriately boisterous. They do not have a website, but do tweet regularly about specials and events.
Best Beer Selection
If you are looking for a good Belgium or local brew, the Bier Garden, with more than 200 selections, is the place. Located in historic downtown at 46 Haywood Street, they have good food (try the sweet potato fries!) and offer a good view of the Asheville goings on in-between games. Parking is limited to the street and garages.
Are Wings Your Thing?
If the wings at Northside do not float your boat, Wild Wing Cafe at 161 Biltmore Avenue is the obvious place to go for some variety. There are screens everywhere and barely a bad seat in the house. Wild Wing Cafe also has a nifty upstairs bar that overlooks the super big screens.
Each of these three selections is here for a reason, but the most important is that they all have full NFL access. As with most places in Asheville, these bars are all Carolina Panther based with a healthy smattering of support for the rest of the league. One of my favorite things about this trio of venues is how easy it is to go from one to the other between games without hardly missing a play. Daily food and drink specials are offered at each venue; check with the bar for further details.
