Kenny Britt’s Twitter hacked, criticizes Roger Goodell: Local’s take
Tennessee Titans receiver Kenny Britt(notes) is either delusional or someone is out to get him. That's all I can make out of what he claims to have been a hacking of his Twitter account on June 20, 2011.
Britt has resisted arrest on multiple occasions, had his license suspended for traffic warrants, had dark window tint while driving on a revoked license, was involved in a barroom fight at a Nashville club, and charged with careless driving in the past 18 months. He was just charged with lying to an officer, resisting arrest, obstructing government function following a stop earlier this month.
His past behavior isn't indicative of someone who most people will consider as a trustworthy person. That's why he doesn't need anyone helping him by using expletives against the commissioner. Britt had three tweets within a short timeframe that included:
"Retiring from the NFL. F*** You Goddell."
"Change of HEart. My family is always here for me. I made mistakes and i am sorry i am going to change and become a better person and mentor for all my young fans. I will accept any penalty like a man. The road beings Sept 11 in Jacksonville. ill be ready!!!"
"my fbook was hacked with those past 2 status's. i am not retiring and do not have any hate toward the commissioner."
I'd like to give Britt the benefit of the doubt and hope this incident is resolved. Alcohol or not, Britt needs psychiatric evaluation and should be evaluated for bipolar disorder if he were truly involved in these tweets. I'd advise that he make a full-pledged effort in finding out who was responsible for this so-called hacking and try to clear his name as best as possible since hardly anyone will believe the 21st century version of "The dog ate my homework" excuse.
Communicating with Britt should be a top priority for the Titans once the NFL lockout ends. This has gotten to the point of absurdity and it's time for them to start worrying more about his mental state than his football career. I don't know how you can make a long-term commitment toward a player who is going to wind up in jail within the next 12 months if these actions persist.
Britt hasn't responded well to having football eliminated from his life. I wouldn't be surprised if Goodell extends that absence for about half-a-season. I'm not sure that Britt can remain out of trouble until November if football isn't keeping him occupied.
