Peyton Manning Would Be a Great Fit for the Broncos: A Fan’s Opinion

Peyton Manning on the Denver Broncos?

In a recent article on the Denver Post website, the Broncos are reportedly going to place a call with Manning's agent to see if he may be interested in joining the team. While the Broncos haven't been mentioned among the five teams most interested in getting the star quarterback, I think he would be a great fit in Denver, for the right price that is.

Are there risks? Sure. He could get knocked down by a defensive player and land funny, anything can happen really when it comes to quarterbacks in the NFL these days. He is also going to be 36 this year and one has to wonder how much he will have left in the tank even though Manning says that he is fully healthy right now. However, I think it is worth the risk for the Broncos if they could get him for a two year deal, and here are two reasons why:

Allows Tebow to Develop

Signing a quarterback of Peyton Manning's caliber will allow the team to compete for a Super Bowl now, while allowing Tim Tebow to continue developing as a quarterback. Let's face it, Tebow's a great guy and all but he needs more time to learn how to throw a football. Out of 33 quarterbacks who played in 2011 Tebow ranked 27^th in passing with a rating of 72.9 and completed less than 47% of his passes. On the flip side, when Peyton was healthy in 2010 he had a rating of 91.9 and completed nearly 67% of his throws.

AFC West

The AFC West will be up for grabs in the 2012-13 season, as opposed to the AFC East if Peyton were to go with the Miami Dolphins (New England Patriots/New York Jets) or the NFC East with the Washington Redskins (Philadelphia Eagles/Dallas Cowboys/New York Giants). He would make the Broncos the clear favorites in the division, especially with the great defense that Denver already possesses. Manning obviously wants to win now, and the Broncos give him a great opportunity to make the playoffs.
