Yahoo! Contributor NetworkNYG Fan: Brandon Jacobs Gets into the Ring on TNA Impact Wrestling
I don't want to overstate the point here, but New York Giants running back Brandon Jacobs may be the greatest thing in professional wrestling today.
Jacobs made an appearance on TNA Impact Wrestling for the second time in two weeks on Thursday. Last week, he shoved "bad guy" wrestler Bully Ray to the ground after the two men got into a verbal altercation. Jacobs again got the better of Bully Ray this week, but this time it was in the ring.
Jacobs entered the ring with microphone in hand roughly a half-hour into the show. He again introduced himself for those who may not regularly watch the NFL or recognize his face. Jacobs stated that you "come to Impact Wrestling" after winning the Super Bowl. I think Eli Manning might disagree with that statement. Jacobs recapped the previous week's altercation involving himself and Bully Ray. He said he shouldn't have put himself in such a position to involve himself with the wrestler, but he did blame Bully Ray for starting what wasn't much of a fight. Jacobs called for Bully Ray to come out to the ring, and, after a few seconds, Bully Ray obliged.
With his own microphone in hand and standing on the ramp while remaining numerous feet away from the ring, Bully Ray asked "Brenda" to settle down. He reintroduced himself to Jacobs, and told Jacobs to "look at my calves. Have you see my calves lately? They are huge!" This was awesome. Bully Ray explained that they were both champions and that both had ties to New York, but he was then interrupted by the crowd chanting "Brandon Jacobs." Jacobs invited Bully Ray to enter the ring as the wrestler berated the fans for cheering on the Giants RB. Then, after teasing entering the ring, Bully Ray, like any cowardly heel wrestler would, backed away; but not before making fun of Jacobs' lackluster Super Bowl stats. Jacobs then chased after Bully Ray, and both darted to the backstage area.
Now we fast forward to later on in the show. Bully Ray and partner Kurt Angle were involved in a no disqualification tag match against Jeff Hardy and James Storm, with Jacobs out there to cheer on his buddy Storm. The match went on through a commercial break, getting to a point where Angle and Bully Ray brought a table into the ring. Bully Ray talked trash to Storm, who was down in one corner. Jacobs entered the ring, and he and Bully Ray faced each other before both got into the three-point stance position. Before anything happened, however, Storm got to his feet and struck Bully Ray. The wobbly Bully Ray stumbled into Jacobs, and the Giants running back choke-slammed Bully Ray through the table. Storm pinned Bully Ray, and the segment ended with Jacobs grabbing a microphone and mocking the bad guy with Storm's catchphrase: "Sorry about your damn luck."
All things considered, Jacobs has been pretty good in his two appearances on TNA Impact Wrestling. He held his own on the microphone, and he never looked like a guy who didn't belong in the business during his two spots. I certainly don't want to see Jacobs becoming a full-time professional wrestler anytime soon. I don't see any reason why he shouldn't be involved in a Wrestlemania angle next year when the event is held at MetLife/Giants Stadium. I'll say it again:
Jacobs vs. Rex Ryan. Book it.
