Where to Watch the Super Bowl in the Quad Cities of Eastern Iowa
If you plan to spend your Super Bowl in Eastern Iowa here's a breakdown of three of the best, locally owned, bars to take in the big game.
Located on the city's west end "The Hat" has been a staple in the community for more than 50 years. What started as a chicken and pizza joint eventually morphed into a sit down restaurant only to be revamped into its current "eatery and pub" form. Locals have been coming here for decades thanks in large part to the reasonable prices and good food.
Recommendations: Get an original "Quad Cities" style pizza and cold beer - it's a combination that started at The Hat way back in the '50s. Plan B: An order of Herky wings - not your average hot wing, Herky wings are huge, full sized wings guaranteed to fill you up.
Family owned and operated for more than 20 years Sports Fans Pizza offers a great Super Sunday option. Twice voted the Quad Cities Best Sports Bar, and known for their pizza (hence the name) Sports Fans offers no shortage of TV's so you won't have to break your neck trying to get a view of the game. Sports Fans offers a traditional sports bar feel, complete with complimentary popcorn, and beers served in mason jars.
Recommendations: Pizza, particularly any of their specialty pizzas (the K.C.'s Special is personal favorite of the author).
Not a sports bar per say, but Bley's Tap is Davenport's classic 'Hole in the Wall.' A local favorite for generations this bar, located just off Brady Street, isn't for the faint of heart. If you're looking for a cushy place to cheer on your team with snacking on wings or pizza you'll want to look somewhere else. Bley's Tap really only has one thing to offer: cheap, strong drinks. It's known as Davenport's Hole in the Wall for a reason. It's small, it's dark and there's just two TV's. What it lacks in atmosphere it makes up for with a no-nonsense bar and bartenders who aren't afraid to give you your money's worth. The perfect place for someone looking for a blue-collar, down to earth, roadhouse like setting to watch this year's Super Bowl.
Recommendation: Mixed drinks. They're cheap and they're mixed strong (usually about 50/50 booze and mixers).
