An Open Letter to Tim Tebow from a Patriots’ Fan: A Fan’s Look
Dear Tim Tebow,
As a fan of the New England Patriots I want to congratulate you for the exciting win in overtime against the Pittsburgh Steelers back on Sunday, January 8. I have never really cared for the Steelers much, and would have loved to see the Patriots send them home crying this week but you led your Denver Broncos to a thrilling victory and earned the right to come to town.
You had a great run winning six straight games starting in early November against the Oakland Raiders. It doesn't really matter the teams you faced during that run were mediocre at best, with the exception being the Chicago Bears, maybe.
I'm sorry when the Patriots came to Denver back on December 18, in a game that was getting plenty of media buzz, they made easy work of your team leading to a three-game losing streak to end the regular season. I'm sure it was a tough time, but you got through it.
I am sure you realize when you come to Foxboro on Saturday, January 14 it is going to be much more difficult than when you lost back in December. The Patriots have not had a playoff victory in nearly four years, and they are hungry. It is not going to be pretty.
I would suggest learning as much as you can from this upcoming loss. You are a fine young quarterback with more potential than you may realize. Unfortunately, Tom Brady and the Patriots have already realized theirs.
Perhaps moving forward it can become a regular visit to Foxboro in the postseason. You can have the opportunity to beat your wild card round opponent and fall short against the Patriots in the divisional round for the next few years. The Broncos are a great team to use as a warm-up for the AFC Championship. Maybe the Patriots can even face you and your team there some day.
In closing, it was a pleasure to watch you develop this season. But as it is often said, all good things must come to an end. Best of luck next season, and I hope to see you in the postseason again soon.
A Patriots' fan
