Chargers and Broncos Preview: Fan’s Perspective
November 27 will be an AFC West matchup between the Denver Broncos and the San Diego Chargers. The Broncos enter the game 5-5 while the Chargers are at 4-6. Unfortunately, due to injuries, I think this may prove to be an easy match for the Broncos and will increase the win total for QB Tim Tebow(notes).
Plagued With Concussions
The Chargers have been plagued this season with injuries, including the season-ending concussion suffered by OL Kris Dielman(notes) on October 23 where he suffered a seizure. OL Scott Mruczkowski(notes) had been filling in for Dielman, but he suffered a concussion during the November 20th game against the Chicago Bears. His concussion proved to be a season-ending injury as well when the Chargers placed Mruczkowski on injured reserve on November 23.
Concussions haven't been the only problem for the Chargers. DE Luis Castillo(notes) has been battling a leg injury and WR Malcom Floyd(notes) has a hip injury. LT Marcus McNeil was out with a neck injury and OLB Shaun Phillips(notes) has been battling an injury to his foot. Still in question are DT Antonio Garay(notes), S Darrell Stuckey(notes), G Tyronne Green(notes), G Louis Vasquez(notes) and CB Marcus Gilchrist(notes). It is getting to the point that the list of non-injured players is shorter than those that are injured.
Broncos on a Role
Since Tim Tebow stepped in as the starting QB for the Broncos, he has been on a role. With a 4-1 record as a starting QB, Tebow's leadership seems to be bringing the team together. A team that only a few short weeks ago was at the bottom of the AFC West is making a climb for the top.
Tebow isn't the only one bringing the change to the Broncos though. Rookie LB Von Miller(notes) is striving to break the rookie sack record and is a top runner for defensive rookie of the year. With his ability to take an opposing team's QB down and slow down the offensive partnered with Tebow's drive to win no matter how it gets accomplished, I don't seen the Broncos having a problem pulling out the win this week.
With all that being said, if I were to make a prediction on this game, I would take the Broncos 24-10 over the Chargers. If Tebow can get his passes to the receivers that score may even be higher.
