Raiders agree terms with WR Carter

WALNUT CREEK, California (Ticker)—The Oakland Raiders added some depth to their receiving corps on Wednesday, agreeing to terms with former Carolina Panthers wideout Drew Carter.

Terms of the deal, which was reported by the Contra Costa Times, were not disclosed.

A fourth-round pick in 2004, Carter set career highs with 38 catches for 517 yards and four touchdowns last season.

The signing of the 6-3, 200-pound Carter comes on the heels of the six-year, $55 million deal Oakland gave Javon Walker on March 6.

The two moves have helped shore up a position that was left thin after Jerry Porter signed with Jacksonville. Prior to signing Walker and Carter, the Raiders had just one receiver - Ronald Curry - under contract with more than six career catches.

Carter, who missed his rookie season with a knee injury, has 71 catches for 977 yards and eight touchdowns in 33 games - all with Carolina.
