Man pleads not guilty in shooting of Jaguars T Collier
JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA (TICKER) —The man accused of shooting Jacksonville Jaguars offensive tackle Richard Collier pleaded not guilty Monday.
Tyrone R. Hartsfield, 32, is charged with attempted murder in the shooting of Collier on September 2.
The shooting left Collier paralyzed from the waist down. He also had to have his leg amputated before his release from the hospital in mid-October.
Hartsfield is being held without bail. He will face another court appearance on December 1.
The 27-year-old Collier was shot multiple times in the early-morning hours while he was sitting in a passenger seat of a parked vehicle. Kenneth Pettway, a former teammate of Collier, also was in the car but was uninjured.
Authorities said Collier was targeted in the shooting, with Hartsfield claiming he was retaliating for being assaulted by Collier in April.
