Atlanta re-signs No. 2 QB Redman

FLOWERY BRANCH, GA.(AP) —The Atlanta Falcons plan to sign backup quarterback Chris Redman(notes) to a contract extension.

Terms of the deal, which Redman is expected to sign soon, were not released Friday.

Redman first joined the Falcons in 2007, and went 0-2 as a starter last year filling in for former NFL offensive rookie of the year Matt Ryan(notes). Redman is 4-8 in his career.

A third-round pick for Baltimore in 2000, Redman has completed 56.7 percent of 466 career passes for 2,971 yards, with 21 touchdowns, 13 interceptions and a 79.3 quarterback rating.
