Texans’ Ryan Moats Gets the Nod at RB for Colts Game

  • Print

Texans coach Gary Kubiak told ESPN's Bob Holtzman that Ryan Moats(notes), not Steve Slaton(notes), will start at running back for Houston against the Indianapolis Colts Sunday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported via Twitter.

Slaton was benched after coughing up his seventh fumble of the season last Sunday in Buffalo. Moats played very well in place of Slaton against the Bills, rushing for 126 yards and three TDs.

Slaton, who came into this season with high expectations after his 1,200-plus yard, nine TD 2008 season, is still expected to get some carries, Schefter tweeted.

Thanks Terry, I'll consider. I just can't help but notice how poised Palmer has looked and how his receivers seem to be coming around. Then again, Tennessee has been looking bad defensively. Still, they are getting healthy on the defensive side. I think I'll stick with Palmer for the upside.

Start Moats. Jamaal Charles has yet to prove what he can do. Moats showed the world last week. Moats is your guy.

Who is the better pick between Moats, and KC's Jamaal Charles?

I am debating as well. Should I start Moats or Jamaal Charles? Charles is the featured back. but Indy's D looks shaky with all those injuries. Decisions decisions.

@Baller The pick in my opinion is Alex Smith going against the Tennessee secondary, one of the worst in the league. 49ers are playing @ home, and are due for a win after tough games versus Houston & Indy the last 2 weeks, both close losses. Cincy will crash to earth @ home as Baltimore is seeking revenge for the last minute loss @ home earlier in the season. I think Baltimore's D will be in Carson's face all day and the pressure will cause at least 2 picks on the day. Good luck!

What do you guys think. I'm debating wether or not to start both Moats and Slaton. You know Slaton will get his touches. I feel Kobiak started Moats to take the pressure away from Slaton so he can sit and relax, the when he is put in he can prove that he can hold on to the ball. I mean he is there second best receiver now that Daniels is down they have to use them both equally I assume.

maroney may be the safer bet there. we still have to see how the carries will be distributed in houston and i don't like any miami players this week even though i'm a Fins fan...ronnie brown will get the bulk of the carries for miami and there probably won't be much to go around as i can see new england dominating time of possession.

slaton hasn't been very explosive this year and he's fumbling. not a good combination. i think the job belongs to moats as long as he doesn't start fumbling. slaton will get his but probably not many goal line carries.

I doubt Moats will hold on to the job for much longer. Bills run defense is horrible so his 3tds will be his best game this season. I think Kubiak will change his mind once he misses slaton's explosiveness.

Should I start Carson Palmer or Alex Smith? I'm inclined to go with Palmer especially after that performance going into the bye. Smith I think needs to convince me a little more. My QB 1 is Tom Brady. Not bad options at all.

Great news for me! I was desperately scrambling for a RB to pair with D.Williams this week. I even considered trading Miles Austin. Canceled that offer as soon as I heard the news. Now hopefully Moats gives me some production against that tough Colts D.
