NFL Says ‘Aargh’ To Captain Morgan

  • Print

Those of you who watched last Sunday’s night Eagles-Cowboys game might remember that after Philadelphia tight end Brent Celek(notes) found the end zone, he struck a pose. No, not like Madonna in the "Vogue" video, but the now familiar logo of pirate-loving rum drinkers: Captain Morgan.

Apparently that was part of a partially underground promotional campaign by the liquor company, according to Yahoo! Sports. The problem is, Celek’s moment of fun in the sun didn’t go unnoticed by the league, which has put the kibash on the celebratory pose going forward.

We assume that also bans the Grey Goose, the Bacardi bat, St. Pauli Girl, and the Fat Tire bicycle from post-touchdown rituals. Yet the NFL has no problems promoting the consumption of mediocre macrobrews during its gazillion ads per game.
