Michael Crabtree: 49ers Optimistic
Update: General manager Scot McCloughan is confident that the 49ers will be able to sign rookie Michael Crabtree(notes) to a contract before the regular season opener, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Recommendation: “It’ll get done,” McCloughan said Saturday. “What’s three or four months on a five- or six-year contract?” With the Bengals’ recent signing of Andre Smith(notes), Crabtree is the only first-round pick who hasn’t been signed yet. The 49ers are remaining steadfast to the slotting system for rookie contracts, reluctant to give Crabtree the Darius Heyward-Bey-type money that his agent, Eugene Parker, is believed to be seeking. Crabtree may be a viable fantasy option at some point during the season, but will face a rough transition period initially.

If he doesn't sign with them, maybe I'll have him play on my football team, Robar's Rampage! Which is currently ranked 4th in the world on FlagMag.com.
