NFL-Favre savours triumphant but frosty return to Green Bay

GREEN BAY, Wisconsin, Nov 1 (Reuters) - Brett Favre(notes) savoured a triumphant but frosty homecoming, tossing four touchdowns as the Minnesota Vikings fought off a Green Bay Packers comeback to claim a 38-26 win on Sunday.

For Green Bay fans, Favre’s performance was a reminder of the glory days when the quarterback was firing touchdown passes for the Packers for 16 seasons and leading them to two Super Bowl appearances.

Back at Lambeau to face his former team for the first time since a messy split in 2007, Farve was lustily jeered by a Green Bay regular season record crowd of 71,213 from the moment he stepped off the Minnesota team bus until he exited the field surrounded by a horde of cameras and reporters.

The hostile reception failed rattle the 40-year-old, who completed 17 of 28 pass attempts for 244 yards, including touchdowns to Visanthe Shiancoe(notes), Percy Harvin(notes), Jeff Dugan(notes) and Bernard Berrian(notes).

    Put Favre behind the Packers O-line & see what happens,put anyone behind that o-line & see.The vikes are winning because of AP,their o-line & their defense.They are very talented for sure.Last time I checked though the Packers have 12 world championships,how many do the vikes have? I didn't see them handing out rings after the game today,they must not have shown that.

    ......The Packers loose to Minnesota, the fans see it as a loss to Favre - that's why it hurts; that's why there are boos, isaac......how about Vikes fans?? hated Favre for years but more importantly hated Favre when he "stayed retired" in August '09( I heard ALL the commentary from Minnesota media).......we (Pack AND Vikes fans) are "stupid" to think that he really cares about booing fans or the fans in general- he saw a better opportunity with Minnesota in spring of '08 and when G.B. made his behind the scenes antics public, it became G.B.'s fault per Favre's report........today, the Pack played with heart and made it a game - (young and developing team)......the Vikes have a better chance of making the playoffs, yet both the Vikes and Brett have a tendency to have late season meltdowns.......have fun in the off season - barring injury, I KNOW Rodgers will be back......by the way isaac "WE" are you on the team???
