Redskins sign RB Blaylock

ASHBURN, VIRGINIA (TICKER) —The Washington Redskins on Tuesday signed running back Derrick Blaylock.

Terms were not disclosed.

Blaylock spent the last two seasons with the New York Jets after signing a five-year contract worth $11.1 million. But Blaylock suffered a broken right foot during the 2005 season and played in just four games last year.

In Washington, Blaylock will try to make the team as a third-string back behind starter Clinton Portis and backup Ladell Betts.

Blaylock enjoyed his best season in 2004 when he rushed for 539 yards and eight touchdowns for the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Redskins on Tuesday also signed wide receivers Dan Melendez and Kyle Brown.
