Dungy see Buffalo as option for Vick
NEW YORK (AP)—Tony Dungy says Michael Vick(notes) could potentially wind up in Buffalo, which he says previously discussed signing the quarterback.
Dungy has served as an adviser to Vick since the Super Bowl-winning coach retired from the Colts after last season. Now a commentator for NBC, Dungy confirmed during the pregame show Sunday night before Philadelphia hosted Dallas that the Bills and Vick “talked originally” when Vick was searching for a team after serving 18 months in federal prison for running a dogfighting ring.
The Eagles signed Vick to a $1.6 million contract for 2009, with a team option for the second year at $5.2 million. But he has played sparingly.
“I told Michael to just worry about this year,” Dungy said. “It’s technically up to Philadelphia. If they want him back, he has to stay there. If they don’t, there are some teams looking for quarterbacks: Cleveland, St. Louis and Washington.
“But I think a dark horse is Buffalo. They talked originally. There was some communication there. I think that could be a good spot.”
Vick has not been the weapon for the Eagles some expected and he was in for only two plays in their 20-16 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night. Vick said his focus is on helping the Eagles win a Super Bowl and not where he’ll play next year.
“It’s what I thought it would be,” Vick said. “I knew I couldn’t come in and do anything that would disrupt the rhythm of the offense and what we had going on here. I knew I was going to have to be patient.”
Bills starter Trent Edwards(notes) struggled this season before sustaining a concussion. Ryan Fitzpatrick(notes), a career backup, has been the starter with Edwards out of the lineup.
Vick didn’t want to talk about potential teams for the 2010 season.
“Me and Tony talked about my position in the future, whether I’m here or whether I’m there,” Vick said. “We talked about it, but the primary goal is to help this team win the Super Bowl.”
Vick has completed 2 of 6 passes for 6 yards and rushed 12 times for 27 yards, mostly out of the wildcat formation.
He said he usually talks to Dungy at least once a week and receives “great advice” from his mentor. Vick, who has talked to churches and schools about the poor life choices he’s made, has enjoyed his second chance in Philadelphia.
“It’s been great,” he said. “Every day I wake up and I just thank God I have another opportunity to play football and put on a uniform. That’s what I’m thankful for.”

Everyone has struggled or been oppressed. Whites have done it to THEMSELVES.Regardless of color, at one time or another, everyone has...plain and simple. GET OVER IT.
In my opinion, people who even drop race as a factor (you, Mcnabb) are probably the racists, lol. Cause 99% of people wouldn't have even thought of it that way, had no one said anything.

1) Vick still has many years of pro football left in him...simple and plain! He just needs the chance to improve himself as a player! He's been given the chance to be on a team and hopefully soon will be given a chance to lead a team as QB! Haters are going to hate regardless of there being a reason or not...hating is their job! Meanwhile this man is getting his act together and making a living on an NFL team! Hating doesn't seem to measure up to that Lol!
2) #1636 "JP" said: "why does what happened centuries ago still apply now , this is simply not true. you mean to tell me Vick got 2 years in jail for killing dogs in the most vicious hideous way because he was black? what a right out lie, so a white man or a man of any other color would of got off. Nothing could be further from reality"
I just want to say no offense but are you serious? Which world have you grown up in? Should ALL corporate punishments be across the board (regardless of race, color, creed, religion, gender...)? Yes absolutely! To allude, presume, assume and/or affirm this is so is an absolute untruth and is really not the way this country was set up or even the "constitution"! Think about it my man, who are the so-called "founding fathers" of this land? Who all had an equal say in the "constitution"? It is so easy for people who are not or who have not been persecuted to either ignore or downplay another person's, race's or culture's persecution! I'm not saying African-Americans should play the race card to get away with foolishness/crime/hate any more than those of Native-American or Jewish heritage! But for anyone to claim racism and/or inequality doesn't now exist or should be swept under the rug or should not be a topic of conversation (in order to learn from and not repeat) is living in a fantasy world...again simply and mainly b/c they are not the ones who have to go through it!
I do appreciate the truth you spoke about Jesus being the Christ and ONLY savior of the WHOLE WORLD though...God bless you for that! It is truly amazing to me how many people of all races/colors say they love God but hate one another (especially b/c of racism) when God came as a lowly servant of Jewish heritage! To me it wouldn't have mattered if he came from Mars or Pluto; was Nigerian, Baltic or what have you! The FACT that He was wholly God and yet wholly man and that ONLY He was/is able to save me is more than enough and should be for ALL of mankind!

As an older Black Man, I was never more proud than when Barack Obama was sworn in as our President. Months later, I'm extremely disappointed in our President, the Governor, and Professor Gates.
It appears that Professor Gates reacted poorly to a police officer trying to do his job and return home safely to his family. Without the facts, our President and the Governor quickly assumed that Professor Gates had been wronged. I see this with so many Black men today.
They, and I, grew up as victims of racism and it'll never be forgotten. All 3 of them overcame that racism and made something of themselves. But all 3 of them still have the same ugly chip on their shoulder. That chip says "I'm a Black Man in America. I was oppressed so you need to treat me with more respect. I was oppressed so you need to treat me better. If you disagree, you're trying to oppress me and all of my brothers again."
In his NAACP speech, President Obama spoke about responsibility and accountability. Mr. President, Mr. Governor, and Mr. Gates, it's time to be responsible for your own actions and your own words. In the Navy, a real man would say "I fouled up". If our great country is to survive, we need fewer Black Men and fewer White Men - we need Real Men.
I am a minority myself, but could confidently say that the professor is the one who played the race card and did the profiling. I wonder if he would have been so billigerent if it were a black police officer just trying to do his job. Shame on you Obama for getting involved, just because it is your friend. Get back to the nation's business of fixing the many problems we face, please!
Correct, Gates was himself profiling. I can understand the man being upset if the cops wanted to come in and look around, but it was the attitude that got the best of him.
But big deal--local story. Obama is the one that elevated it. And I'd like to know whether Lynn Sweet, from his old hometown, was urged to ask that question or whether Obama knew it was coming in the presser. Nobody is talking about the failed health care bill and the Blue Dogs war against Pelosi, etc.
And now the Times pulls another leak about Bush/Cheney.
Obama... I think his policies are going to send this country to.the well,His a typical liberal that spends without any foresight or vision of how this is going to effect, EVERYBODY! However I applaud him for acknowledging his part in this and reaching his hand out to each of them and bringing them together to resolve this issue. I wish more race mongers black and white would do the same instead of putting gasoline on a small flame that is trying to be put out
i believe police officers are trained to act as the adult in the room and that is regardless of the race of the citizens they are in contact with
They, and I, grew up as victims of racism and it'll never be forgotten.
Hard for me to say, but do you think Obama suffered the same treatment as you or other blacks in the CONUS when growing up in Indonesia and Hawaii? To me this is rooted in his indoctrination with Frank Marshall Davis and Jeremiah Wright and the like. During the campaign Al Sharpton criticized Obama for not being black enough, ie, wasn't there for the struggle.
Well said (and thanks for your service). Here's something that speaks to that very notion..

We have a double standard in this country when it referrers to racism: racism is a two way street and we are all guilty of it in one form or another and to say you are not racist is to say you are without sin. In America it is ok for a black man to be openly racist and not ok for a white man. President obama is the perfect example, just think if the former president pulled the race card. We would have riots and destruction in the streets. Burn baby burn……

to secure 334. don't be a dumb ass and use the constitution as his right to work, because he has "talent" everyone is jealous of. It's just plain B.S. Fact is if regular citizens committed same crime, would ur employer hold ur job for u? Hell no. You would be replaced and forgotten about a long time ago. Also what "talent" are you refering to about vick; his 51% career completion percentage? He's nothing but a fast brother. I can find 100 people from my area that can do what he does, and probably at least 10 can actually pass. If he was such a good quarterback he would of had a job before he was off house arrest. he doesn't because he isn't period.
Maybe you should check into that a little better. I support Vick in no way shape or form. Vick has no Talent other than running from cops. He is free and should be happy with that instead of crying about not being in the NFL. It's Tony Dungy and Jessie Jackson that is making it a racial issue. Just because Vick isn't getting his way. I hope Vick plays so he can make asses of all his supporters. Because he is going to stink it up after 3 yrs of not playing a single down in football.

It is every teams option if they want Vick or not. So you have Jessie Jackson and Tony Dungy trying to get Vick back his job. Why are they only helping Vick and not all the other players Black or White that was or are in trouble. If Big Ben Roethlisberger loses his job are they going to go to bat for him? I would bet not. So don't go crying to me about racism. You bring that on yourself. And so what if Vick doesn't get on a team is the world going to end? No you will just not make money on him. After Vick setting for 3 yrs i bet you won't make any money on him anyway.

Your response had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with my comment!!! I never mentioned ANYTHING about MYSELF making money on/off Vick and his success? And I never called YOU a racist! Whats wrong? Did something I said hit you a little too close to home? Next time you decide to repost and reply to one of MY comments STAY ON THE SUBJECT!!! I REFUSE TO HOLD A BATTLE OF WITS WITH AN UNARMED MAN!!! Have a nice day!!!!!
maybe you should understand what you read. Did something i say hit close to home. i didn't call you a racist either did i? I was talking about all the comments on this site just as you was. ok here it goes.#1 the PROFESSIONAL ATHLETE doesn't give two @#$%s about Vick Because he doesn't conduct himself as a professional and the true professional athlete is not going to bad mouth a fellow player. THAT would not be professional. #2 Nobody said he needed to be tried twice for the same crime. If he wants his job back he should have to earn it. Not just step right out of jail and into the best job in life just like he never left. What punishment would that be by the NFL. #3 Vick went to college and see where he is. So I guess a college will take anyone as long as they can play sports. no matter how much trouble they have been in. So hey mad how is it to be unarmed. and yes i'm in college and i played sports. Like that has anything to do with the SUBJECT.

1) According to government documents, PETA employees have killed more than 19,200 dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens since 1998. This behavior continues despite PETA’s moralizing about the “unethical” treatment of animals by farmers, scientists, restaurant owners, circuses, hunters, fishermen, zookeepers, and countless other Americans. PETA puts to death over 90 percent of the animals it accepts from members of the public who expect the group to make a reasonable attempt to find them adoptive homes. PETA holds absolutely no open-adoption shelter hours at its Norfolk, VA headquarters, choosing instead to spend part of its $32 million annual income on a contract with a crematory service to periodically empty hundreds of animal bodies from its large walk-in freezer.
2) PETA president and co-founder Ingrid Newkirk has described her group’s overall goal as “total animal liberation.” This means the complete abolition of meat, milk, cheese, eggs, honey, zoos, aquariums, circuses, wool, leather, fur, silk, hunting, fishing, and pet ownership. In a 2003 profile of Newkirk in The New Yorker, author Michael Specter wrote that Newkirk has had at least one seeing-eye dog taken away from its blind owner. PETA is also against all medical research that requires the use of animals, including research aimed at curing AIDS and cancer.
3) PETA has given tens of thousands of dollars to convicted arsonists and other violent criminals. This includes a 2001 donation of $1,500 to the North American Earth Liberation Front (ELF), an FBI-certified “domestic terrorist” group responsible for dozens of firebombs and death threats. During the 1990s, PETA paid $70,200 to Rodney Coronado, an Animal Liberation Front (ALF) serial arsonist convicted of burning down a Michigan State University research laboratory. In his sentencing memorandum, a federal prosecutor implicated PETA president Ingrid Newkirk in that crime. PETA vegetarian campaign coordinator Bruce Friedrich has also told an animal rights convention that “blowing stuff up and smashing windows” is “a great way to bring about animal liberation,” adding, “Hallelujah to the people who are willing to do it.”
4) PETA activists regularly target children as young as six years old with anti-meat and anti-milk propaganda, even waiting outside their schools to intercept them without notifying their parents. One piece of kid-targeted PETA literature tells small children: “Your Mommy Kills Animals!” PETA brags that its messages reach over 1.2 million minor children, including 30,000 kids between the ages of 6 and 12, all contacted by e-mail without parental supervision. One PETA vice president told the Fox News Channel’s audience: “Our campaigns are always geared towards children, and they always will be.”
5) PETA’s president has said that “even if animal research resulted in a cure for AIDS, we would be against it.” And PETA has repeatedly attacked research foundations like the March of Dimes, the Pediatric AIDS Foundation, and the American Cancer Society, solely because they support animal-based research aimed at curing life-threatening diseases and birth defects. And PETA helped to start and manage a quasi-medical front group, the misnamed Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, to attack medical research head-on.
6) PETA has compared Jewish victims of the Nazi Holocaust to farm animals and Jesus Christ to pigs. PETA’s religious campaigns include a website that claims—despite ample evidence to the contrary—that Jesus Christ was a vegetarian. PETA holds protests at houses of worship, even suing one church that tried to protect its members from Sunday-morning harassment. Its billboards taunt Christians with the message that hogs “died for their sins.” PETA insists, contrary to centuries of rabbinical teaching, that the Jewish ritual of kosher slaughter shouldn’t be allowed. And its infamous “Holocaust on Your Plate” campaign crassly compared the Jewish victims of Nazi genocide to farm animals.
7) PETA frequently looks the other way when its celebrity spokespersons don’t practice what it preaches. As gossip bloggers and Hollywood journalists have noted, Pamela Anderson’s Dodge Viper (auctioned to benefit PETA) had a “luxurious leather interior”; Jenna Jameson was photographed fishing, slurping oysters, and wearing a leather jacket just weeks after launching an anti-leather campaign for PETA; Morrissey got an official “okay” from PETA after eating at a steakhouse; Dita von Teese has written about her love of furs and foie gras; Steve-O built a career out of abusing small animals on film; the officially “anti-fur” Eva Mendes often wears fur anyway; and Charlize Theron’s celebrated October 2007 Vogue cover shoot featured several suede garments. In 2008, “Baby Phat” designer Kimora Lee Simmons became a PETA spokesmodel despite working with fur and leather, after making a $20,000 donation to the animal rights group.

There's a whole lot of "I'm not racist" and "YOU PEOPLE" talk going on. Bottom line is the man made a mistake, went to court, was found guilty and PAID THE PENALTY AS SET BY THE COURTS. You cannot be tried for the same crime twice and that is what every person who says he shouldn't be allowed to persue his career is doing. Whether he be successful or even if he fails, HE DESERVES THE RIGHT TO TRY, Thats what THOSE first 10 ammendments in the CONSTITUTION are there for. (Bill of rights- Inc case your intelligence is limited by ignorance) The real issue is that people are JEALOUS of the MONEY that this man could potentially make if his comeback is a SUCCESS. A comeback made with skills that each one of YOU in OPPOSITION can only sit back and wish YOU had.
How many of YOU in opposition EVEN WENT TO COLLEGE let alone WERE GOOD ENOUGH AT ANY SPORT TO EVEN ENTERTAIN THE IDEA OF BEING A PROFESSIONAL ATHLETE? How many Pro- athletes have gone on record and said Vick should be barred for life? Truth of the matter is all of you nay-sayers are full of nothing more than JEALOUSY over seeing someone with an OPPORTUNITY that you never had or could EVER HOPE to get!!!
SHUT-UP, STOP HATING,GET A LIFE AND LET VICK MOVE ON WITH HIS LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is every teams option if they want Vick or not. So you have Jessie Jackson and Tony Dungy trying to get Vick back his job.
