Steelers’ Polamalu wearing heavy brace

  • Print

PITTSBURGH (AP)—Steelers safety Troy Polamalu(notes) wore a heavy brace on his reinjured left knee while watching practice Wednesday and did not take part in any drills.

Polamalu limped off the field about 30 minutes before practice ended and did not answer questions. He is all but certain to miss Sunday’s game at Kansas City, and he might not be ready for Baltimore on Nov. 29.

Polamalu injured a knee ligament while tackling Cincinnati’s Cedric Benson(notes) on Sunday. He missed four games after hurting a different ligament during Pittsburgh’s opener.

If he starts in Kansas City, backup Tyrone Carter(notes) would be in the lineup for the sixth time, compared to five starts for Polamalu. Carter also started once for safety Ryan Clark(notes).

Polamalu was injured in the first half of two of those five starts.

I have read many of your comments. I for one have been a steelers fan all of my lifetime. I agree with those who have been talking about the madden curse! Whoever is on the cover gets hurt and eventually is out of NFL for history. Except Brett Farve. Which i'm quite happy about because he is great on my fantasy football team! But steelers have time to progress without polamalu and will eventually go to the superbowl again. They can do it without the bus we can do it without polamalu.

Thankyou for the constructive criticism. You know, me being the embodiment of all Steelers fans!!!!!!! What exactly are you, besides an @#$%? Your parents certainly failed to teach you about being a decent human being. I did feel I went on a bit and it really wasn't pertinent to the conversation but it certainly was not worthy of such vituperation, especially from a person who, obviously, has led quite a sheltered existence back there in beautiful Latrobe! I do hope Steelers fans everywhere continue their undaunted love for their team, as I will, in spite of an occasional @#$% trying to belittle whatever one chooses to say! Rob, keep that sunny disposition and I'm sure your future will be as dismal as you, and noone deserves it more!!! And just to let you know, and I'm sure you're dying to, I'm quite knowledgeable about football.

I totally agree! In the last seven games, the two games I question is with Baltmore, But the way Baltmore played Cleveland, that's also questionable. On any given Sunday, any team can win! Save
him for both Baltmore. But that is totally up to the medical staff &Troy, but Tomlin has the last say, just like he did with Clark in Denver.

Troy should SIT OUT until at least next month. As a DIE HARD STEELERS FAN, I want him back and healthy 100% when we need him MOST. Thats at the end of the season when we play our last important games, and into the playoffs! Our creampuff schedule coming up will assure us at least 5 wins in the last 7 games, good enough to make it to the playoffs. We have been raod warriors and beat indi in their house on the road to the superbowl before. Let him rest, realign the D until then if need be, and kick ass in the mean time!

Our offense needs to regain its composure, make more in its running attack with Mendelhall and we are going to cruise until Troy is back for us to pilage in the playoffs!

    GO STEELERS!!

First of all, If you had read any of blogs, I was having a debate with Brian J. Second of all, yes Scott did run it back, but then the bungles had a botch field goal! That was the decisive play of the game.
And third of all, I do know a little about football! I played for Joe Pa in the late seventies. So why dont you go find yourself a lady of the field. Just remember, Bahhhhhhhhhhhhhh...means NO!

i think troy needs to sit ans we should move ryan clark to the strong saftey position . split the free saftey time between mundy and carterwhat reaaly hurts though isnt just losing troy its also about not haveing aaron smith we have had a rotation of 3 guys playing the right d end spot and although eason got in on a sack last week vs the bengals the production hasnt been there since lossing smith to the rotator cuff injury.as far as the bengals game and the dilusions of most people on this blogg, i saw a game tha could have gone either way both offensses were bottled up and the only td came on a return so i say it was a push and i will give respect to marvin lewis and his coaching staff . to this point they have put together a solid season but in the nfl its not how you start its the finish. pittsburgh has 3 divisional games left and 2 of them are against the ravens which will make for some very intersting play i think the those 2 games are going to prove who is top dog in this division i agree with the one blogger who wrote that the bengals could go 8-8 and lose the division but we have to play better along the way to be able to capiitalize if that situation presents itself. as for the rest of the bloggers that just want to take the time to blast the steelers ... its ok i bet it sucks haveing such a great season to this point only knowing you were only 6 points better then us last week and in the first game you won in the last second if mendenhall plays in the first meating we woule win just from him being able to run in the 4th quarter.that situation didnt present itself on sunday

@755: Maybe you should try watching football sometime, Bernard Scott had a 96yd kickoff return for a TD. Then you might know what you are talking about. Are all Steeler fans this retarded? Or is it just him?

    Yo' JP (post 765)...

It's going to be alright. The nice men is the white suits will help you back to your padded room because the doctor needs to change your meds.

The Bengals' SuperBowl is over. They beat the Steelers twice in the same year. Get your mom to bronze the calender for you! It is special--just like you JP--your gonna like your new pills. They are strong enough for a horse because they were made for horses.

    Don't ckoke on it!

When you come to, the Bengals could be 7-3 since they might have lost to the Raiders!!

Bloggers would crown the Bengals at the midway part of the season. WOW. Reality, the Bengals have not even locked up a playoff spot yet or the division crown. Even if they beat Cleveland and 6-0 in the division, They could be 8-8. If the Steelers win three. They are 9-7. Result- division crown goes to the Steelers because 9-7 beats 8-8.

Take a pill. The Bengals have played well so far this year, but this is the NFL and November football is different than football in September and October. December is even worse because the ground is less forgiving.

You still do not know how the LJ factor will play out. It does not take much to disrupt the chemistry of a team. AND YES, THE BENGALS HAVE PLAYED AS A TEAM FOR THE FIRST HALF OF THE SEASON. The games have to be played to know what happens in the second half of the season, but the Bengals did start the second half right with a win. It does not mean that they can't drop the next seven since the high point of their season is over.
