Mendenhall returns, expected to start vs. Browns

  • Print

PITTSBURGH (AP)—Pittsburgh Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall(notes) is expected to start against the Browns after returning to practice following a day off with flu-like symptoms.

Mendenhall went through a full practice on Friday.

Steelers safety Troy Polamalu(notes) also will start on Sunday. He practiced all week after missing four games with a torn medial collateral ligament in his left knee.

Mendenhall ran for 165 yards against San Diego and 77 yards against Detroit the last two weeks as Willie Parker(notes) sat out with a left big toe injury. Parker practiced all week, but Mendenhall is scheduled to remain the starter.

The Steelers (3-2) have won their last 11 games against the Browns (1-4).

Can't wait to see Troy back on the field today ! Let's make it 12 in a row over the Brownies, aka"the mistake by the lake" !! Pittsburgh will be taking no prisoners this season, so watch out for the STEEL CURTAIN defense & with Mendenhall carrying the ball & Holmes,Hines & company catching Big Ben's passes, we will be hard to stop. Just like last year ! SIXBURGH !! The ONLY 6-time Super Bowl CHAMPS !!! Woot Woot !!!!

The one comment out ot all the retarded comments from the retarded mindless drones on these blogs that really makes me laugh...is the "bandwaggon" thing.... I talk to Steelers fans whenever I see one in public (because we all rock) and I've yet to run into a fan who's not been a true Steelers fan since they were old enough to follow football... There is a reason for this,,,IF we find bandwaggon fans trying to hide among the Black and gold faithful.... we give them a well deserved beat down and a bus ticket back to their choice of New England,Indy,Dallas, Arizona etc.... Steelers fans don't need nor want souless bandwaggon fans, that would make us like the rest of you....

123 is just another dilusional F--ktard..... For one..... The Steelers get boned by the refs more than any team in the NFL///// Steelers O line getting away with holding? You have to be F-ing kidding me... you must have them mixed up with The Pats and Colts... funnt the teams that ACTUALLY do get away with holding on every play are the teams with the NFLs little pet pansie QBs

Now this whole fantasy of the Steelers being "given" anything in either of the last 2 SB wins.... is really just hilarious..... it does show the lack of knowledge of the idiot making the comment however... Anyone with the slightest concept of the game can go back and watch either of those games play by play and any call that had any significant impact on either game were always in favor of the opposing team.. I've talked to non-bias fans (thats someone that doesn't talk out their retarded arse just because they hate the Steelers for the mentally limited jokes trying to hold onto this fantasy) and they all seem to see the reality, which is the Steelers won both of those IS SPITE of the refs not because of them.... Tryin to dispute this just makes you look like more a moron than any of you already do..... Go back and watch the game film...Oh thats right none of you even watched it a second time, yo just got your F-tard oppinion from the other F-tards on these blogs lol what a joke you patheic souless Steelers haters are..you have nothing

At Pattys Fan # 137- Do you think the Steelers will miss the playoffs the way the Pattys did last year? Yea, keep saying you went 11-5 or whatever with a lame Cassell, so did the Fins and they won your division (Fins went 1-15 the year before). The Pattys and everyone in their division played the same weak schedule, that's why the Fins won the division.
All I heard during the offseason was how the Pattys would light it up again when Tommy Girl comes back. Well, Tommy Girl sure looks like a scared PU$$Y back there, throwing balls in the dirt and WRs feet cause someone is rushing him... crying for penalties... Did Patty fans think they would see another 17-wins and 1-Giant loss this season??? LOL
Good luck Patty fan. The Steelers will get their D together in the 4th qrt, and then watch out cause the O is playing very well. The Bungles will stumble like usual, the Ravens are a bunch of thugs, and the Steelers will win the division. Hopefully the Pattys can get past the Jets and Fins and make the playoffs so we can spank Tommy Girl before he and Bellicheat decide to retire.. HAHAHAHAHA

#123, You are a moron. I hope your mother tried to abort you and failed! Watch the darn games! We don't get calls because Ben is a big man. I watch all games, not matter who plays, and some of the plays that Other teams get on hits to their QB, we don't get calls for, because Ben is a big guy and a big target. We lose a lot of calls that would, on other teams and with smaller QB's would be "roughing the QB". We don't complain, because we have the best.

I have been a Steelers fan since I was about 12. I am 61 now. I have seen the Best of the Steelers, the Worst of the Steelers, and now, again, the Best of the Steelers. I would not want to choose who was the best team of the 70's and 80's era and now. We are ALL awesome.

You are all just jealous because you don't live in an area where you have the best of everything!! GO STEELERS and GO PENS. We are all great!!!!!!!

Troy needs to sit out one more week. They don't need him to beat the Browns. One more game won't hurt him.

@ 131- We are only 5-weeks into the seaosn and you already know who is and isn't going to win the SB, huh? HAHA Go to Vegas and place your bet then... The Steelers are easily in the top 5 teams in the league. They have a few things to fix, and if it's on defense, they will them for sure.
Why don't you say something about or offense? Big Ben is having a great year, and our RBs will start to pound the ball.
You should know by now that nobody ever counts the mighty Steelers out any season... Haven't you been paying attention the past 4-years...

    GO STEELERS!!! STAIRWAY TO SEVEN!!

the chances of repeating are really bleak for the steelers ,sorry without DE Aaron Smith the defense will surely take a huge blow remember year 2007.and especially the fourth quarter meltdowns what is with those atocious end gams can't picture what are the steelers are taking because they are great for three quarters and completely implodes in the the last quarter that is dumb, so if they play like this all the tie the chances of a REPEAT is not in the books in my opinion.......

Hey fellow long time Steeler fans~ The comments from people like poster #123 aren't new to us. They "can't stand" that come floods of biblical proportion, Steeler fans will fill opposing teams stadiums and make our boys feel *right at home*. They "can't stand" that year in and year out, we'll be bleeding black and gold. They "can't stand" that our Terrible Towel is one of the most recognized sports icons and we'll wave it, twirl it, clutch it and BRING IT to every game the Steelers play in. They "can't stand" that we support our beloved Steelers and recognize that they come out every Sunday (or Monday and the occasional Thursday or Saturday) and play FOR US; their fans. They appreciate us as much as we appreciate them. They "can't stand" that we don't tolerate showboaters and will send them out of town on a rail (Plax.) They "can't stand" that our Steelers ..... are the team to beat no matter what our record is. Most of all...... they "can't stand" that we know the game, know that sometimes the ball will bounce in our favor and sometimes it won't and that OUR STEELERS are, without a doubt, the heart and soul of Pittsburgh and their fans.

Make no apologies; just consider the source.

    HERE WE GO STEELERS!!!!!

I hope Ben sues that girl who lied and tried to extort him for all that money. I hope she is sent to prison where they can teach her a thing or two about rape. Girls like this are a dime a dozen, what happened to women??? She'll get what she deserves.

I can't STAND Steeler fans. I respect Mr Rooney and his lagacy, but he must have some high level execs in his back pockets. The Steelers have had more bad calls go their way in the Superbowl than I care to remember--they were literally HANDED the game against Seattle, and last year wasn't much better. Big Ben's ofeensive line gets away with more holding than any team since the old Raiders.
I can't wait until Baltimore steamrolls those creampuffs.

Willie (The Puss) Parker is a fools play. Even IF he were to play a whole season, and THAT's never gonna happen, he's no Fantasy biggie... in fact, TWO RBs on his own team will score more Fant Pts than him... he'll be back sitting out before halftime... and BTW, geniuses, it's FANTASY POINTS that count, not winning games. He'll be lucky to score 100 FPs in normal formats... Moore will score more. It amazes me how people stick with has beens like him. He wasn't even drafted until the 12th round in my league... and even that was too soon. I'd trade him for a ham sandwich nd call it a day.

I love it when people start running their yaps about the steelers only to find out that their teams don't even know what it is like to participate in, or win, a superbowl. heck, some of them haven't even seen the playoffs in most of their fans lifetime. I am in the heart of carolina panther country, or what should be, and there are more steeler fans here than in any other place that I have ever been to. of course delhomme sux so that makes it a lot easier, but there are other teams that they could have chosen and they picked the steelers(wonder why...BECAUSE EVERYBODY LOVES A WINNER) so all of you haterade drinking, no playoff team rooting for, closet steeler fan, "wait til next year" screaming yuck-a-pucs go find a steeler haters anonymous club and seek counseling. in the mean time, we will be getting prepped to travel with our championship team to here and beyond in our quest for, and retrieval of, SUPERBOWL # 7.....not bragging just being a loyal fan standing up for my team against the haters of the world.
