Seahawks CBs Trufant, Wilson have concussions

  • Print

RENTON, Wash. (AP)—The Seattle Seahawks’ two starting cornerbacks have been diagnosed with concussions.

Marcus Trufant(notes) and Josh Wilson(notes) didn’t practice Wednesday, and Seahawks coach Jim Mora didn’t specifically address their playing status for Sunday’s game against Brett Favre(notes) and the Minnesota Vikings.

“We’ll have a couple guys that might be limited (in practice), but nothing serious,” Mora said.

Trufant, a Pro Bowl selection in 2007, was injured against Arizona last weekend. He returned to the game.

Wilson was injured in the same game when his head slammed off the leg of Beanie Wells(notes) and then the turf as Wilson tried to tackle the Cardinals’ rookie running back in the second quarter. He also returned to play.

Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck(notes) resumed practicing. The three-time Pro Bowler had missed the previous two Wednesday practices because of broken ribs and a sore shoulder.

“Yes, that’s a good thing,” Mora said. “The last two Wednesdays, he’s been somewhat limited. That’ll help us continue to develop.”

Nathan I guess I should have worded the free agent thing better. I should of said that we re-signed them when they were able to opt for free agency lol. I love my Seahawks even when they stunk back when they were 2-14 and we scored the fewest point in a season (140 pts.) and hopefully the browns can hold that dubious record this year. I like the direction coach Mora is leading our team. He brings in a frsh approach to our team and seems like he has some discipline in him noting that ex coach Holmgren was said that he pretty much just bagged last season of his contract. Its football and we had our run for the title and its going to be a few years hopefully not to many before we can get back on a title run. Good luck Seahawks!!!

Leave it to a succa ass Cardinal fan with QB so old he plays bingo in his down time to say sumthin about the Seahawks havin old players. Hey FAKE JETHRO enjoy this last year or so with any chance of winning until have to put in Matt "overrated" Lienart in the game until he leaves in free agency too just like Boldin is gonna do then talk to me about rebuilding.

P.S. THE PHOENIX SUNS WILL ONLY EVER BE REGULAR SEASON CONTENDERS TOO I'D RATHER NOT HAVE A TEAM THAN HAVE THEM TEASE ME EVERY YEAR LIKE THEY REALLY GOT ACTION THEN FLOP IN THE CLUTCH!!!

Since when is football not a violent sport? All those sour grapes about an elbow to the throat. Boo Hoo, so sad you lost. Instead of blaming the other team its time to look in the mirror and see all the grey hair and out of shape players you have.

David is right... time to clean house. And while you're at it go change that diaper on your coach.

ps... it was a cheap shot from Dockett ;-)

Hey Kurtis R I commend you on admitting to being a Seahawks fan since most people are such bandwagon jumpers that they all NOW wanna say the Seahawks are garbage after they claimed to be the BIGGEST Seahawks fan in the 2005 SB year. But if u r gonna claim in represent us well and know ur facts. Walter Jones, Marcus Trufant, Lofa Tatupu, Shaun Alexander and Leroy Hill are all Seahawk ORIGINAL DRAFT PICKS NOT FREE AGENT SIGNINGS. And damn good ones at that! Thats is why if we keep our GM(Ruskell) then he gonna keep us on the right track by drafting good defensive players(Aaron Curry instead of Mark Sanchez) DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS!!!! But again i will give u credit for not sounding as stupid as DAVID'S DUMBASS COMMENTS

As I am a huge Seahawks fan. Has it seemed that every big free agent that we retained has gone down with injuries. I will exclude Walter Jones since he has been playing at a high caliber for so long that injuries are finally taken a hold. Trufant has done nothing, Lofa has done ok but already out, hill has done nothing, Kerney had 1 good year and letsnot forget about Alexander a few years ago but I blame that on the Madden curse lol. Like it goes with every team, If we had stayed healthy are team would be pretty decent. I don't blame the G.M. because at the time we signed them, they were pro bowl players. Mainly though are offensive line needs to be built up again. Hopefully Forsett can become are feature back sometime because we all know Julius Jones may be decent but really hasn't done much. I say we will finish this year with 6 wins and next year we will do better.

If these guys were starting it wouldn't make a difference.
AP does not line up at WR.
Favre can throw the ball through a key hole.

The Vikings are good, but they also have the easiest schedule in the NFL. The decent teams have played them tough.

I see them going to the playoffs but not much further.

Gee, maybe you should just shut the H#%& up and admit the Vikings are one fine fottball team. They would have beat the Steelers if not for a bad tripping call.

It's time for this team to clean house. G.M., Q.B., R.Bs, O-Line, Secondary.
Hass needs to retire, as hard as it is for me to say, he is just not a Pro Bowl caliber Q.B. anymore.
This trying to stretch WJones for another year is a big mistake, the dude is finished. They haven't started to rebuild this O-Line yet and seriously need to.

Several great prospects in the upcoming draft. If they have a new G.M. who knows how to build a team around the nucleus they keep, no reason the Hawks can't build a solid 8-8 team for next season and build from that point. Playoffs two seasons away.

At this point, they are actually moving backwards...

So the excuses have already started.. It doesn't make one difference wether or not the whole team is healthy or not.. Just face it Seattle fans, your Seahawks suck.. Hasselbeck be perpared to get schooled AGAIN by the best QB in the league. BRETT FAVRE!!!! You have already proved that you didn't learn squat, while sitting the bench in Green Bay.

The Cardinals should be good, they were so BAD for so many years. After collecting all those first round players, it's finally paying off. Seattle, well they are in re-build mode. The next few years could get ugly for Seattle.

2 things come to mind here:

    1) When is the NFL going to really address the concussion problem? This is nothing new, and from what I've heard (this could be wrong,) there are new helmets made to prevent these sort of injuries...I think the Patriots use them already, and I never hear of any pats player getting a concussion. This really needs to be looked into by the league.

    2) Something is wrong with the Seahawks (other than their record.) They are constantly plagued by injuries, CONSTANTLY. This falls under the domain of the strength and conditioning coach. After they oust Ruskell as GM, first thing they need to do is go out and get a top flight strength and conditioning coach, this is IMPERATIVE!!! While they are cleaning house, get rid of Julius Jones, who isn't even an average back, and draft a top flight banger.

PEACE OUT BY A LIFE LONG SEAHAWKS FAN

Beanie Wells is HUGE. 6'1 235 and benches 350. He is a dumptruck. I feel bad for these Seahawks CB's they are sort of small.

You have to make a business decision when facing Beanie Wells head on... do you want to tackle him or do you want to prolong your career.

Do the Seahawks get paid to get injured, because they are NEVER healthy. Might as well change their name to Seattle "Bruised Fruits".
