Saints place Kendrick Clancy on IR

  • Print

NEW ORLEANS (AP)—The New Orleans Saints have placed defensive tackle Kendrick Clancy(notes) on injured reserve with a knee injury and signed defensive tackle DeMario Pressley(notes) from the practice squad to the active roster.

Clancy, a 10th-year player in his third season with the Saints, played in two games and was inactive for five others because of the injury.

Pressley, a second-year lineman out of North Carolina State, was selected by the Saints in the fifth round of the 2008 draft. The 6-foot-3, 301-pounder spent his rookie season on injured reserve rehabbing a foot injury suffered early in training camp.

13-3? what 3 teams will beat us? At worst 14-2 reagular season and thats only saying that the Pats and the Falcons will beat us. Cause there is no one else on the schedule who can even if our second string D was playing.

we are going 13-3 and home field throughout playoffs! We have beaten alot of good teams this year, on the road too. We should go 10-0 before facing pats on Mon nov 3oth. If we can beat them at home, this is our year. No doubt!

What the hell are you guys talking about "weak ass defense"??? My nuts...They forced dirty Sanchez to throw 3 pics. They will get to Eli this week too...Payton took a pay cut to get Gregg Williams signed as def coordinator, they got 2 young studs in Porter and Greer at corner and they also signed Sharper, who has been a Ball-Hawk his entire career, he is also having a strong season. Roman Harper is good, solid run support with decent coverage skills. Will Smith is getting sacks, Sedrick Ellis has developed into a beast and Charles Grant is a man and Hargrove causes fumbles every time he tackles, and Vilma is a stud. WHAT THE HELL ELSE WOULD YOU DO??? The New Orlean Saints, while healthy, will go to the Super Bowl this year and win. And I am a Carolina Panthers fan...and you guys must not even watch Saints football...

I really don't understand it. Why are so many people frustrated with this decision? If you look at the roster, Brees' reliever is Mark Brunell, who is aging and not altogether effective (as seen some evidence of in the preseason). Having a third string QB who could turn out to be decent and a better long-term buffer if something goes wrong for Brees is a good decision.

For those people who keep screaming about N.O.'s defense, I have to wonder why they are all upset. The last two games were essentially won by the defense the Saints now have, and while having an additional DE or nose tackle somewhere would be nice, the defense IS succeeding. If I didn't know that this story was posted today, I'd swear I'm reading comments from two years ago. With the acquisition of Darren Sharper and the effective coaching of Greg Williams, the defense has proven that it can hang with the big-dogs just like the offense can make defensive-minded teams look like lollipops. And no, I'm not saying it's always like this, but certainly they've proven that they can do the job when they need to.

Lastly, people, Harper has a broken foot. Seems like a good reason to replace him with someone, and choosing the quiet but well reviewed undrafted QB seems like a wise choice. Such a decision worked out for Dallas...well, kinda.

Sorry but Colston was drafted in the seventh round of the draft, Lance Moore was the undrafted free agent.

Have any of you people been paying one bit of attention? Can somebody please tll me exactly how many offensive players we drafted or picked up in free agency?! (other than the FB swap) Give Payton a chance, the guy seems to know what he's doing. Anybody else remember another undrafted free-agent wide reciever with the last name Colston! What round was it that we drafted Pierre Thomas in again? Where's the FAITH???

I just wish they would pay more attention to the defense side of the ball, if they dont hurry our time will be to late. with the offense we have in place now, a good defense would compliment it with more wins.and OUR TIME TO WIN IS TODAY NOT TOMORROW.!!!!!!!!!!

we don't need a WR at all we need defensive players if anything. if you are going to pick someone from the practice field pick a defensive player, we tend to get hurt a lot on defense.

I'm baffled as well...even better, there are plenty of big daddy nose tackles left on the market...why aren't we going after them. I've said it over and over again...to be effective, we need to be able to force teams to run...to do this we need to stop the pass with QB pressure...to have QB pressure with our current personnel (and not leave ourselves exposed) we need to have a TRUE, double team pulling nose tackle...he doesn't have to be a albert haynesworth...just be as big and dominant enough to let Sed Ellis and one of our bookends do their job...or maybe even one of the linebackers to sneak in backdoor for a sack...

remember your coverage is only as good as your pressure...weak pressure= weak coverage...pure and simple...

as far as a running back is concerned...yeah we could have converted a few 3rd downs last year...but that was only 2-3 games...and even then the real reason we needed to convert was because we couldn't depend on our DEFENSE!!!

With an offense this potent (even with our backs we are still the #1 offense)...our defense should be able to win at least 3-5 games for us...if they can do that...we will have a 12 win season...I PROMISE!!!

I agree, if he could'nt make the Jags roster why do we want him. They better worry about the backfield not the wide receivers.

Why? We have a stable of reliable receivers. I can understand releasing an undrafted QB, but what are the Saints looking for? They aren't going to get a TO or Moss from digging through some one elses trash.
