Haynesworth lets Skins have it after Eagles loss

  • Print

LANDOVER, Md. (AP)—His voice low, his words sharp, Albert Haynesworth(notes) questioned teammates’ desire after his Washington Redskins’ 27-17 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night.

“Urgency, heart, ‘want-to,’ whatever. I don’t know. We’re lacking a lot of stuff right now,” the defensive tackle said.

For the second consecutive home game, thousands of spectators headed to the exits early.

“The fans are losing interest. The more games we play, the fewer fans come. It’s getting bad,” Haynesworth said.

The Redskins are 2-5 despite having opened the season with an NFL-record six consecutive games against winless teams. Washington’s two wins were by a combined five points over teams that both are currently 0-7, Tampa Bay and St. Louis.

Asked if he delivered a postgame speech in the locker room, Haynesworth replied: “You can say but so much. You’ve got to actually ‘want to.’ So once we get to that point—where we ‘want to’ do something—then we’ll do something. But if we just keep going our separate ways, then we’ll just keep getting slaughtered like we have.”

It's not all Campbells fault. I dont blame him overall. Yes, he's gotta learn how to either hold on to the ball or when to get rid of it. Putting the ball on the floor is not an option and it's been happening too often lately. But why's that happening? He's trying to do too much. On top of that, he's getting skittish due to the lack of protection. I expected much more from him this year with him finally being in an offense scheme for a consecutive year as well as getting some more mentoring under Zorn.

Guys, Cerrato actually is right. The Redskins have a playoff caliber team but as long as there is no leadership on the sidelines and on the field, then they are going to continue to have issues.

what i want to know is who,s coaching new orleans saints defense now? right greg williams. didn,t greg williams coach us , didn,t the players respect and play for greg williams? yes! he was next in line to take over after gibbs left...but danny-boy has to have it his way.. well greg williams said to him i,ll see you on the way to the super bowl. you go outside your organization and bring in a guy who has no experience running , you already had a guy who had been here for 2 years prior and you kick him to the curb...look at him now his team is 6-0 and his defense is probably 1 of the tops in the NFL. the song " hail to the redskins " should now be called " to hell with the redskins "... sorry bunch of money hungry , self centered football players...

I been a Washington fan all my life. This was the first time I wanted to run for the hills. All of you guys are right we need an O line. The defense played great. Its time to let another QB play. 2-5 is not the end of the season. Let Colt Brennan Play. When he was with Hawaii he ran the west coast offense with June Jones. Fire Cerrato.

last night was a joke. Down 3 scores and using the whole clock for each play. They gave up, The defense played well ecept for to plays. 4 Turnovers a couple on Skins side of the field and held them to fieldgoals. People talking about Randle El, please washed up and muffed a punt. Portis seemed pissed but he can't do much with the O-line being that bad. Campbell sacked 6 times and hit 14 others, he can't wait to get out of D.C. I actually saw players laughing and joking on the sidelines, come on this team could go 2 - 14 this year because they have already started making off season plans. TIME TO CLEAN HOUSE FROM THE VP DOWN.

I seriously think this team could compete, or at least be 8-8 at season's end, with a competent offensive line and a few lessons in ball security. I'd also like to see Randle El throwing some balls. He was so money with trick plays in Pittsburgh. And as I recall he threw the only TD to Cooley last year, but don't quote me on that.

You guys blaming the defense are morons ---- no defense can fight 4 turnovers -
no turnovers and you win the game, it is that simple. The skins played as a group good enough to win. YOU CANNOT OVERCOME DUMB TURNOVERS

After watching last night on the tube, I changed my mind on Haynesworth; you could see the desire in his eyes. He's the only one I was it from though. I'm sure there were others, but this is not a team, it's a group. I didn't think they could get worse, but they continue to amaze me. No, don't blame Zorn, even if he did have a good idea, he's been nuetered in front of the world. Congratulations Dan, your plan on destruction is almost complete.

Shame on all of you that want to blame J Campbell. How would you feel each game not knowing how many more hits/sacks you can take. Look at the OL people, and the defense is not playing that well either. I hope a team picks JC up and then you haters can eat my words-he will do better with an OL that can protect him and a coach and owner who have faith. You all love him when he throws touchdowns, but hate him when no one can catch his pass. Yes, he has made some errors, but how many more hits can this man take? I have a lot of respect for him, and if you listen to the experts they will agree that the QB needs protection. I would like to see some other QB in there and see how far he will last. Not long. Get some education people.

OK, enough trash talking Hainsworth and the Defense. This Defense is strong, and Hainsworth played his a... off last night. He's not at fault for taking a 100 mill. dollar deal. Mabey he should have turned it down.....NOT!!!!
I'm tired of idiots pointing fingers , when they don't have a clue!
Zorn is definatly not the problem. Letting him go creates another problem, let him call plays and be a coach.

    1) VINNIE HAS GOT TO GO
    2) JASON IS FAR TO NERVOUS BACK THERE. great guy but............
    3) SPEND EVERY EFFORT ON GETTING AN OFFENSIVE LINE
    4) SPEND EVERY EFFORT ON GETTING AN OFFENSIVE LINE
    5) SPEND EVERY EFFORT ON GETTING AN OFFENSIVE LINE

Actually you can't blame haynesworth because he got double teamed all night. The pass rush is non-existant...Albert should just save his breathe. The 4 turnovers were what did them in. If they made 1 or 2 plays on offense and def they had a chance to win.

The funny thing is the tough part of their schedule starts next week (o.O)

This doesn't appear to be a coaching problem - Zorn is being used as a scapegoat.

This is a problem with the scouting/recruiting/drafting folks, imo. This is a problem of the players just plain sucking at their jobs, who were hired by someone even less COMPETANT than they are!

Problem is, these "front office people" are the same folks who will blame Jim Zorn for the problems, fire his azz, and try the same things with another poor coaching victim.

It won't change until the front office people get coaching potential hires telling the front office folks to take their job and shove it! Perhaps then, changes will be made from the very top - on down to the playing field.
