JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP)—The Jacksonville Jaguars have been awarded safety Anthony Smith(notes) off waivers from the St. Louis Rams.

To make room for Smith, the Jaguars placed cornerback Scott Starks(notes) on injured reserve with a hamstring injury.

Smith, a third-round draft pick by Pittsburgh in 2006, has played 48 games with 14 starts for the Steelers and Rams. He has 99 tackles, four interceptions and 23 special teams tackles.

Smith played two games for the Rams this season before he was waived Thursday.

Starks played five games for the Jaguars this season and had seven tackles and two special teams tackles.

Professional QBs just don't come from any University in the state of Florida. They just don't.

Tim Tebow would be a deffinate improvement to the Jaguars. I am a big fan of Davids and I think he is a awesome guy on and off the field . I even wear his jersey, however Tim would sell out every game next season . Tim works best under pressure where David seems to struggle in third down and long sittuations. Anyone who doubts Tim is just a hater and should be made to stand in front of him on the field. Id bet their oppinion would change........just ask Lane Kiffen

haha no one is going to need the #1 pick to draft tebow. Tebow will make a nice tight end or fullback barring some miracle where he actually develops a accurate throw. As a QB in the NFL he would be garbage. He will be around in round 2 easy. Tebow would be good for tickets sales nothing else. And mark my words. Jacksonville will have a 8-8 or better record this year and they will beat indy this sunday.

I am a Jags fan from day 1 and I hope they lose every game this year, end up with the #1 draft pick, and sign Tebow. If the Tebow signing doesn't happen Jacksonville will lose this franchise

You sure got a hell of a runner in Kyle Bell. He's a workhorse that can tote the rock as well. He came from a HS not far from me, and went to CSU, about 15 miles from me as well, and I have seen him run a lot over the years. I think the knee injury he had a couple of years back dropped his value some, but he'll work hard for the Jags, and I wish him the best of luck.
