Del Rio puts Jaguars through full-pads practice

  • Print

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP)—Two days after ripping his team’s defensive effort, coach Jack Del Rio had the Jacksonville Jaguars in full pads.

The Jaguars gave up a franchise-record 305 yards rushing at Tennessee in a 30-13 loss Sunday. Del Rio called the defensive effort insulting, ugly and embarrassing.

Del Rio was so upset about missed tackles that he considered having live tackling drills this week. He reconsidered, but only because he was fearful of injury.

He settled on full pads. Jacksonville (3-4) took the practice field Wednesday in full pads, a rare occurrence during Del Rio’s seven seasons.

Just echoing fellow sentiments here. Daniel you are a moron. Del Rio doesn't draft nor has he ever; if you remember when the Jags drafted Leftwich, Del Rio actually wanted Terrell Suggs. Shack Harris was awful, but as several people have already mentioned, Gene Smith has drafted quite well with four starters. Learn some stuff about football before posting.

    Daniel,

The way the Jags front office power sharing is currently constructed, Del Rio has no power over who the team drafts. Do your homework before you attempt to rip someone without the facts

    Daniel:

For the record, Jack doesnt make the pics, it was done by Gene Smith this year. Also, we know the past drafts haven't gone well and that is why we had so much roster turnover. This years draft class was great, yielding 4 starters and a soon to be 5th.
If you dont know what you're talking about, you shouldn't really talk.

If I were a Jags fan, I'd be worried that one of their key players could suffer a season-ending injury in such a practice.

Then, I remembered that he probably didn't give the ball to MJD in practice, either. Crisis averted.

First, jags suck, second Del rio doesn't know how to use the draft. If he is going to stay in the NFL he will need to draft better. It was alright when he had people to work with, now pickins are gettin slim
