Falcons release Shockley, sign Antone Smith

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP)—The Atlanta Falcons have released quarterback D.J. Shockley(notes) from their practice squad and signed running back Antone Smith(notes).

Smith is expected to be with the team for Wednesday’s practice.

The former Florida State standout signed with the Detroit Lions as an undrafted free agent. He spent time on the practice squads of the Lions, Minnesota Vikings and Houston Texans.

Shockley was a seventh-round draft pick from Georgia in 2006 who was the team’s third quarterback in 2008.

    Thomas brown stay hurt to much.
    shock- needs find a team that uses he style of play he should go try out tennessee it be good fit for him.
