Colts put Jackson on IR; Gonzalez has surgery
INDIANAPOLIS (AP)—The Indianapolis Colts have confirmed that cornerback Marlin Jackson(notes) will miss the rest of the season after injuring his left knee in practice.
The Colts also announced Friday that receiver Anthony Gonzalez(notes) underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Thursday. It’s not clear when he’ll resume playing.
The team said it had placed Jackson on injured reserve for the injury he suffered Wednesday. The Colts didn’t give details on Jackson’s injury, but a person with knowledge of the injury told The Associated Press on Thursday that Jackson had torn his ACL.
The Colts had been anticipating a return by Gonzalez, who hasn’t played since spraining ligaments in his right knee during the season opener. He caught 57 passes for 664 yards last season.

"I really don't want to talk about it now," Jackson said in a telephone interview. Why...
"The injury comes at a very inopportune time in his career. His contract expires at the end of the season -- his 2009 base salary is $1,872,500 -- and he'll be an unrestricted free agent, or a restricted free agent if the 2010 season is held without a salary cap."
Thanks Jax for the memries but.....

GOAT I agree, I think the Colts can loose Jax and not miss a beat. I dont think Jackson is a scrub by any means but lets be real for the first time in maybe 20 years the Colts have enough young guns stepping up as DB's, although still not sold on Jennings. I am worried about them going against the BEAST in Johnson though but hopefully double up and make someone else beat them since their money TE is on IR as well. A funny thought though... could you imagine the Colts drafting Spikes from Florida? That might be fun to watch... well as long as your on his team or know the Three Stooges finger lock to prevent eye poke.
I love if the Colts drafted a impact LB, Offensive Lineman who can actually run block, and a return specialist who can OCCASIONALLY get more than AT LEAST 10 yards a return. Tired of just praying more our returners dont fumble than getting yards.

I still think Polian is not stupid... he knows Sanders value to this defense but if he sees Bullitt continue to rep as well as Bethea and sees the defense continue not to miss one beat without Sanders then I can see Polian pulling the trigger on Sanders to some NFC team this summer. Yeah yeah it sounds crazy to me but I would have called you crazy if you told me the Pats would let Malloy, Law, Seymour, and Samuels go. I think the biggest thing I love to see this summer on the defense is getting a stud LB FINALLY! In this defense the safeties play so far back I still think you can get away with Bullitt and Bethea and upgrade the LB... and no not a LB from the 7th round like we have been doing. Speaking of draft picks... man that Taylor DT I was excited about was here for what... 5 seconds?!
