Suspension ends for Arizona TE Patrick

  • Print

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP)—The Arizona Cardinals have added Ben Patrick(notes) to their active roster after the conclusion of the tight end’s four-game suspension for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.

Patrick, who caught a pass for Arizona in last season’s Super Bowl, had practiced all week but was not added to the 53-man roster until Saturday.

Arizona created a vacancy on the active roster on Tuesday when it released defensive end Keilen Dykes(notes) and re-signed him to the practice squad.

Why is it most Steeler fans are @$#es? Cardinals got stomped? Seriously were you watching the same Super Bowl? You were about one inch from losing the game. And please sit there and tell me that "mood swing" James Harrison is NOT on something banned?

Who cares whether or not it's for ADD or even why it's on the banned substance list. The fact is remains is that it IS on the banned substance list, he got caught with it in his system, and now he has to face the punishment.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! That is one of the funniest excuses I've heard in a long time. DavidL, kudos on the Flintstone's vitamins comment. Unfortunately, most of these football players aren't bright enough to think that far ahead.

For the money these guys are making... If I were an NFL player, I wouldn't take a Flinstones chewable vitimin without checking with the league, multiple doctors, team trainers, and my agent.

Adderall is used by people with ADD. I can't believe that you can get 4 game suspension for taking a pill for ADD. I'm surprised its even a banned substance since it is so common. I'm sure if he played for the Pats or Steelers he would have got off with a warning. =)

Adderall is a brand-name drug psychostimulant composed of mixed amphetamine salts, which is thought to work by increasing the amount of norepinephrine and dopamine in the brain.[1] Adderall is widely reported to increase alertness, concentration and overall cognitive performance while decreasing user fatigue. (Wikipedia). I have a hard time believing someone takes it one time only and gets caught. What are the odds? 4 games? They should have told him to never do it again and not allowed the media to know. Peace.

I think 4 games is a bit much, Matt Jones got caught snorting cocaine off his credit card in his car yet he was able to complete the past season. But rules are rules i guess.

Dunce. If you're stupid enough to take ANYTHING during the season, you deserve to get suspended for being a moron.

He could have went to Flagstaff on the bye week, it is only a couple hours from Phx. The report didn't say it was training camp. I do agree we are missing parts of the story though.

Honest mistake? one pill? He took it on his way back from flagstaff? The agent says Patrick took the drug during the team’s bye week in mid-October.

Bunch of B.S. , Flagstaff return is at the end of Training Camp in late August just before the last pre-season game. The by-week in October.. jajahahahahah...

Why is adderal a banned substance? I don't think it would be considered performance enhancing. I took it to study in college sometimes. It decreases your appetite. NFL players need to eat a lot. Taking adderal would really hinder athletic performance if you really think about it. I know a ton of people who are on this drug. You mean to tell me that no one in the entire league is prescribed adderal. Nobody in the NFL has ADD? Come on. And 4 games seems stiff too. If it is banned then he should just miss one game.

adderall calms people that are diagnosed with a.d.d. down. supposedly it has the reverse effect for those who are not a.d.d. and even if you have a.d.d., it keeps you awake. thats why most people are subscribed xanax or some other form of valium along with their adderall. BROFEST, you should pop a couple of adderall and try to sleep. let me know how it works for ya

If you took a drug in October how could you just now be suspended? As a fan I would want a player to be suspended for a positive test during the season they took the drug. There is definitely some information missing here.
