Browns waive kicker Cundiff
BEREA, Ohio (AP)—No longer needed, kicker Billy Cundiff(notes) has been waived by the Cleveland Browns.
Cundiff filled in while Phil Dawson(notes) missed five games with a pulled right calf muscle. Cundiff made all six field-goal tries for the Browns (1-7).
Dawson returned for last week’s game against Chicago and had his extra point blocked in a 30-6 loss to the Chicago Bears.
The Browns also waived defensive back Anthony Madison(notes).
Cleveland has a bye this week and hosts Baltimore in a Monday night game on Nov. 16.

I don't know why people can't just let the team start playing regular season games before they start talking smack. The coach is smart for not showing all his cards before the regular season starts. I don't care who the starting quarterback is as long as the team is good with the decision and his teammates are on board with the choice. Everyone was a huge Derek Anderson fan before last year and then you jumped all over him when the team imploded around him last year.
I think it's also hilarious that people were calling for Bill Cowher to come in and use his strict disciplinarian approach to turn the franchise around. Just because Mangini doesn't have the sneer of Cowher doesn't mean he's not smart enough to turn this team around. The team definitely needed discipline and these guys don't need to be coddled anymore, it's time for them to man up and play some freakin football!!

Moving on: Hood, who signed a one-year deal with the Bears on Tuesday after the Browns cut him Monday, was not upset he was left off the final roster. It was a much better parting than with the Browns.
Hood said he was happy to get away from Cleveland because he didn't feel he was treated like a man.
He was upset with the Browns' decision to fine him $1,700 for missing a weigh-out session.
"As a man you need to hold yourself accountable, and I don't need anybody behind your back every time, and that's what it was," Hood said. "You couldn't even go to the bathroom there without being fined."
