Browns add linebacker Matt Roth

  • Print

BEREA, Ohio (AP)—The Cleveland Browns have been awarded linebacker Matt Roth(notes) off waivers from Miami.

Picked by the Dolphins in the second round in 2005, Roth made 23 starts in five seasons for Miami. He recorded 158 tackles and 12 1/2 sacks in 64 games. After moving from defensive end to linebacker, Roth had five sacks, 53 tackles and two forced fumbles last season.

Roth was a first-team All-Big Ten selection at Iowa. He had two tackles in three games this season.

The Browns had a roster spot open after waiving linebacker Josh Stamer(notes) on Tuesday. Stamer did not make a tackle in two games with Cleveland. He played only on special teams last week in Detroit.

I know it sucks being a browns fan, but as an avid Dolphin fan, I can tell you this was a huge pick up. Roth is a beast, and has a lot of intensity on the field. If you know anything about him, you know this really had nothing to do with his abilities and everything to do with crossing parcells. You will love Roth!

If Mangini is still coach and we have # 1 Pick, you can bet your sweet tooties that he will trand down to the 2nd round for a few more Jets........Like he did in the last draft....what a freeking waste of time and talent....Mangini, go back to New York or someplace else,,,we just don't wnat you here.......

with a few adjustments on the 0-line, (via free agent). That will fortify the situation of the safety for our QB. If I were the GM of the my beloved Browns, I would draft Colt McCoy (Texas Longhorns) #1, then work on an absolute Power runner. As that may, We"ll find out how much love the owner and the rest of the management have for us fans.

Another loser pick up by Mangini, his so called process seems to be loading up on 2nd rate players that the Jets & Bills dump. Of course nobody good wants to come to Cleveland at this point, and noone wants to deal with Mangini so get use to the lack of talent. He is a lousy coach & a poor excuse for a human being , this franchise is cursed with idiots running the show. If he stays & is allowed to screw up another draft the Browns will be doomed for many years to come. The fans need to demand his dismissal , the sooner the better.

If Browns land number 1 pick in 2010 draft and land QB,look for him to struggle with this blank gun offense.Hopefully will bring in qualified offensive co-ordinator.

my school of thought is this, if you cant stop the run your pass rush is useless so by all means bring us a d linemen that can compliment the nose guard

Everyone who thinks robiske is the best reciever the browns have is on crack.. Robiske is maybe good enough to play behind Patton. Robiske is slow and did nothing at ohio state and i am a buckeye. The wr from georgia is better than robiske. He was worthless as a buckeye and will be worthless as a brown. 2nd pick unreal.

I think BR and the other WR's will be the least of our worries this year. I also agree that BE should be show the tapes of all of his silly drops. Bring the defense up to par and we just might surprise the none believers.
