Browns sign 2 tight ends
BEREA, Ohio (AP)—The Cleveland Browns have signed free agent tight end Michael Gaines(notes).
Gaines has spent parts of seasons with Carolina, Buffalo, Detroit and Chicago. He was released by the Bears on Oct. 17 after playing in one game. He has played 74 games—41 starts—and caught 79 passes for 819 yards and five touchdowns during his NFL career.
The Browns are thin at tight end. Steve Heiden(notes), who had offseason reconstructive surgery, missed last week’s game in Pittsburgh and tight end Robert Royal(notes) left the game with an unspecified leg injury. Royal was one of 12 players who stayed home Wednesday with the flu.
With Heiden and Royal out, the Browns lined up guard Hank Fraley(notes) as a tight end in their loss to the Steelers.
The Browns also signed tight end Colin Cloherty(notes) to the practice squad. Signed as an undrafted free agent by Indianapolis in April, Cloherty was released by the Colts on Sept. 29.
Cloherty replaces offensive lineman Phil Trautwein(notes), who was signed to St. Louis’ 53-man roster.

The only way the Browns can improve is to start with the front 7. Build a line that can protect and DA will look like the pro bowler that he is. They should have sent BQ away while the going was good, but like always the browns rather hold onto him and cause controversy as this season winds down. IMHO, we'll likely see the same BS next pre-season if they're both on the team.
Adding Gaines to the team won't do much and he won't threaten any D. I've never seen a team with so many receivers that can't catch a football .Without a legitimate TE, the other teams can almost always stack the middle to force this team to try and run.
I hate hearing all the BQ fans crying that he didn't get a fair shake and that DA sucks.I doubt if any QB in the league who is a starter could win with the supporting cast that the browns have. Maybe, just maybe if DA had ONE legitimate receiver and a line that could protect him then the browns could start to rebuild a winning team, but as long as the focus is on the QB then this team will never be a winning team.
Start DA and hand the ball off on 1st and 2nd downs and then try to throw for 7 yards on 3rd down will get you a 1-16 team every time.
by the way, Go Bengals!!

We don't care about your family, or your house, or your job, or really anything to do with you... these posts are about SPORTS... not race, not money, and definitely not about you. Coming on here and repeatedly attacking the posters will only get you banned from the repeated abuse reports. You know it has happened already and will happen again.
Get a real hobby... or go try out for the Browns as their new GM. I'm thinking you will be very successful like every other piece of garbage that has been in that office.
